Hi all,

My front diff. is leaking and from what I can see It's the fron diff seal. I already bought it and since it had the front propshaft removed I tried to change it, but I couldn't. I just cant remove the #46 nut :x

any help will be appreciated.

Front Diff seal

Front Diff seal

Luis,

What do U mean by front seal ? There are 2 side seals to the
axles, and a rear one to the propshaft ? I presume U mean the
rear one ?

Lynn,

The seal is the one that goes on the front propshaft's port. I removed my front propshaft already I have to remove a nut refered to as nut #46 in some manuals I downloaded, but I can't find a way to remove it.

Thanx

Front Prop Shaft seal

Front Prop Shaft seal

Luis,

I will have to do this also. I haven't done it yet, but I would think that U will have to jam something into the front diff gears so that U can torque on this rear nut. Another way immobilize the Front Diff. would be to intall one of the axles - which I have removed - and hold it to keep the whole Diff. from moving.

I doubt that this nut is very tight, because when it is installed U have to install it w a small preload. This Preload adjustment requires a small In-Lb. torque wrench, and I don't know if I will attempt it or not. May take the whole Diff. to a shop.

Lynn,

Trust me, it's tight  :x I used a torque wrench to lose the nut and my dad was holding the brakes really tight to imobilize the diff. And still I coulnd't get it out. Then I had my brother to hold the torque wrench in it's place, while my dad was pushing the brakes as hard as he could and I was pushing the torque wrench with my legs an it still wasn't enough :x

Please if you try it lemme know how you did it. If anyone else has done this before please help

Front Prop Nut

Front Prop Nut

Luis,

I haven't done mine yet, but in these cases where U need to "break" a nut, an air gun run by a compressor usually hits it fast enuf to break it.

Yep, that's what I was thinking. I'll see if I can borrow one. I'll let you know how I did it if I do it first :)

Thanx
