Carrera S

I raced a Carrera 4 a few months back and it was real lame. I have no idea what a Carrera S is all about but got a chance to race one tonight. I saw the guy a couple weeks ago haulin ass heading towards the highway. He gave me a smart ass kind of smerk and stuck his nose up at me. So tonight, I saw him getting off the highway. This is a guy in about his late 30's. He ahd a bucnh of haockey equipment in the passenger seat. He saw me and started driving nutty like last time I saw him. I had gotten ahead of him in traffic and he busted ass to catch up. Finally we get a light but it was about to turn so I dint have time to get the vac out of the brakes. I just pushed as hard as I could and floored it. 2 10psi, I started to roll and the light had turned green and he went. I was at his back tire when i let off the brake and I started inching by from the get go. I had to be a snob since I dont get a chance like this often so I waved good by to him as I was passing him. Not sure how fast we were going but Im sure we were past an 1/8 or so and then the road turns, his game for sure. I had to let off. But instead of showing me what his Porsche could do he turned off, probably to his house into a real ritzy area. Anyone know what the Carrera S is all about? Wish I couldve gotten a good launch, Im sure the guy wouldve been pissed.

Re: Carrera S

Am not a porsche freak but the 2005 is 'sposed to to 0-60 in 4.2 and the quarter in 12.6 @ 111.1. RWD with 355 hp. Stats according to Motor Trend.

Good kill nonetheless!

Those stats are not for a 2005 model. Up to 2006, the Carrera S powerplant was a 3.6L rated at 325 HP. BTW, those numbers are around 6,000 RPM which is close to redline (6,800). The 2007 Carrera S powerplant is a 3.8L rated at 355 HP. The Carrera 4S is the AWD model whereas the Carrera S is the 2WD version. Neither launch well off the line due to the small clutch disc. I owned a Turbo and a Carrera which performed flawlessly from a roll. The forte of a Porsche is primarily braking and handling. The newer 911 turbo has been refined and will run a 3.7 0-60, 11.9 1/4 so they have every angle refined but for $130,000 I would expect excellence. Nice cars but I wouldn't own another one. My next high end car (if I have my pick) will be a Z06 vette. Good Kill, Mike!!!

Re: Carrera S

I knew itld be a matter of time before you posted the stats Shawn. Mr Porsche man you. It was still fun to beat an $80k car even if its not made for that. Plus you could tell the guy thought he was all that and a bag of chips. So didnt you say once before that the Carrera 4 was just AWD and 2XX someting HP? I raced one of those and it didnt do so hot.

Re: Carrera S

In my defense,am very careful about posts. I do not comment on technical items without a bit of research. According to the January issue of Motor Trend magazine the 2005 Porsche Carrera S has a 3.8 liter flat six rated at 355 hp. These stats are backed up by Edmunds.com and RSportsCars.com.
