can the crossmember affect drivability?

i searched around but couldnt find the post...

but i remember reading awhile back that if the crossmember takes a good hit, it can mess with how the truck shifts and or cause vibrating???

does anyone have more info on this?

I believe that is correct. It can cause slight to terrible vibration.

Definately as can a worn transmission mount and/or motor mounts. Engine and driveline can get tweaked under load and things start binding... Since the trans mount is connected to the crossmember, it too could be suspect. yup, it can. when i bent mine i went 10 feet thinking the whole transmission had exploded from the sound and vibration.
