Can I run 36# injectors with stock chip?

I know that the buick guys can run 36# injectors on the stock chip. I was wondering if the same thing will work for us.

I am running into detination problems and want to rule out the injectors. A friend of mine has a set he will let me use.

If they are blue tops, you might be able to turn the fuel pressure down a bit to try.

I know you have tried to fix every other possible problem on your truck to reduce knock first, so I won't say to do so

Yeah I have tried all of the usuall fixes to take care of my detination problem but nothing seem to fix it.

Top engin clean, red line fuel system cleaner, new plugs(cr42ts gapped to .032), new wires, cap and rotor(conrad red), ultimate set to T116, fuel filter, set timing to zero then -1 degrees, fuel pressure set to 55 pounds, the list goes on.

I still get 2-3 degrees of retard.

I was hoping if the problem is with the injectors I can send my stock ones out to have them cleaned and flow checked.

You have done quite a bit to rid the problem.
I have been down this road, and 2-3* with all the things that you've done isn't bad IMHO. I wouldn't worry about it much.

Do your plugs show signs of detonation?

Have you ran race gas to see if the knock goes away?<--- If your still getting 2-3* with 100 octane in the tank on the T1-16 then your getting noise from somewhere else. Maybe TC lockup?

Have you put the stock chip in to see if the timing in the ultimate might be too aggresive for your truck? <--- This can be a common problem as each truck is going to tolerate different timing. A solution might be to have someone that can edit your ultimate, pull a couple degrees out where your are getting the knock.

I would certainly try the 36lb inj if you have some available. I know there are others that are using those injectors with the ultimate chip and a bigger turbo. I'd like to see what your results are, so please let us know how it turns out.

I have put 100 octane sunoco GT gas in it and there was no knock.

I have checked the plugs, but not recently, and they do show signs of detination. I periodically check knock with an autoxray. Earlier tonight I had 2-3 degrees of retard which is the best lately. I have seen as much as 6 degrees two weeks ago. I put a 93 chip in my truck instead of a 92 and it seems to hane helped some.

The problem I am running into now is that at 55 pounds of fuel pressure, the truck stumbles off idel. Too much fuel on the bottom end. Also I get a puff of grey smoke when I hit the gas (lean). I am also getting over boost of 2-3 psi when it gets cold.
