Caltrax rattle?*UPDATE*

Hello. I have the caltrax bars on my SY and they rattle real loud when I hit bumps. Can I add bushings or something so they dont rattle? Thanks.

*Sent an email to Calvert Racing and got a reply. They said to put a piece of 3/4" heater hose over the bolt that goes over the top of the spring. Has anyone heard of this. If so, any pics or help to do this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

do you have them set to neutral? i so give them some preload and it wont be so bad.

you want to have the truck sitting on the ground with full weight on the springs. then you must adjust the bars so that you can install the bolts to them without having to do anything but insert them. that is neutral. once you are at neutral you can jack it up and turn the bars so that you lengthen them by at least 1 turn each that will quiet them down significantly.

Is the rattling something that happens after you put some miles on them? Mine dont make any noise at all and for street driving theyre set with a ~1/2" gap between the springs and cross bolts. Maybe I need to find rougher roads :dunno:

Hey Guys,

I have the Caltracs but never put them on. Have they helped anybody's traction ?

Any numbers on 60' improvements ? Still got the stock leaf springs.

I had to run them bc my pinion was rotating up and hitting the floorboard. also noticed that the truck would go hard right under heavy accel. after preloading the R side about 3.5 turns it goes nice and straight now.
