BRAPHOON to 95 S10 AWD Turbo...progress???

I'm making solid progress in the conversion of the Old Turbo L35 from the Bravada project to the 95' S10 AWD project.

Some recent Things/SNAGS

1) PTE Downpipe, NO WAY, JUST FORGET IT.

2) Wiring conversion and ABS, (Better put your thinking caps on! 95' S10 4WD had the lovely shortly used VCM BULLSHIT that also ran the ABS controller) I saved the old integrated Bravada ABS controller so I can swap that in later. But you'll need the axle shafts with tone rings and sensor type backing plate to make this happen. PITA - still gonna do it when I do the Baers.
Thank GOD for a stepfather who worked for NASA to teach me about electronics. This is a tough part of the project for sure.

3) A/C hmmm more PTE fun! The 'CLOWNPIPE' interferes with the Accumulator so this will have to be modded for SURE.

4) AWD conversion. This is pretty easy. Bravada front shaft and companion flange swap in fine. I had to make a 2 inch longer rear propshaft. Dynotech is the ONLY solution here for sure.

5) Transmission. I retro'd BACK to the 4L60 from the 4L60E because Jerry had the Braphoon's tranny rebuilt already and it was WAY cheaper to run a NON "E" trans with the DFI. This required modifing the transmission with a LONGER selector shaft from a 4L60E S Truckbecase NEW S10's ONLY have a cable to shift the trans.

6) FRAME yes FRAME! Stock downpipe/turbo swappers probably will not have to worry about this but, YES we had to beat on the pass side frame rail where the downpipe goes in an effort to create room for the PTE downpipe assy. Now that we HAD to fab a custom DP you could PROBABLY skip this step.

7) Remote oil filter. GM decided to MOVE the Oil filter underneath to assist those who like to GET MORE OIL IN THEIR hair. Well these lines would be MELTED INSTANTLY by the X'VER pipe so we had to go to the earlier SYTY style part and located it in the old style location. LOOKS stock! Windshield washer bottle has to be relocated for this though... SUX

General Remarks: Learn to love the boxy S10's and swap those first! Or go 2WD and NO AIR!!! GRIN!

HARRRR!!!
Geez Dave, sorry to hear you're having so many problems with that PTE setup. Might be because the new body style? Tough to say without really being there. Like Mike says pictures are a must!!

Let me know how things go! Good luck.

Jerry

PS what did you do with the old Braphoon shell?

Old Bravada Chassis was JUNKED, trashed!!! I kept the radio and the front buckets off it! A sad death for an old 'warrior' for sure!

Here are a couple of recent swap pics: Tech Junkies: Note the sweet Marman flange at the end of the DP for easy connect disconnect from the system.

Exhaust system is a highly modified ATR Syclone system made longer
and adapted to work with the new chassis S10. We've also added a Borla Muffler where the CAT goes, and tig welded all the factory S10 hangers to the pipes. Hopefully with the long PIPE length, and having two mufflers in series we will have 'Sleeper' quiet exhaust when we attempt to smoke cobra mustangs with bolt ons! (This is for Dave F. ) It's hard to get quiet and super flow. We had a HUGE Straightline Performance muffler slated to be installed but it's really really heavy and WAY TOO BIG!!!

BTW, Dan White of White Racing and Marine, Clark and Myself built this system

Yeah Bill! Thanks BTW!!

After spending some mad cash to rush an A2A core from California we ended up having to fab a W2A intercooler that would work with the PTE52 because our McCoy unit had still not arrived and we could NOT delay the project any longer. The truck was literally sitting waiting for an IC. Jerry's upset because I requested a refund on our PREPAID order from August 18th. Although I will cut him some slack because I was being obviously just PLAIN STUPID by not BUGGING him for the IC everyday like the rest of his customers are. I was told 3 weeks on the telephone Mid August and I indeed expected that. I'm sure the McCoy A2A would net stronger numbers than our wimpy 414 hp and 506 lb ft of torque @ ~17 psi made. But we'll have to swap out the Turbo and IC to find out.

Everyone is reluctant to swap it out now that we fabbed a pretty cool solution to the stock PTE/ Garrett mismatch. We spent some $$$/Time to get it done. Tricker than it looks. Delta Temps are pretty damn decent as well.
