Yes...the rumors are true: NATS 2009 will be in Bowling Green, KY.

For those not familiar with the area...there is lots to do around there that will make this a truly viable family vacation spot.

We do NOT have a date for the event yet. We won't be able to get a date from the track until they mark down all of their big NHRA events (which could be January/February '09 unfortunately - but we're trying)

Before the West Coast peeps start complaining about it being even further away.....the intention is not to land NATS in KY and leave it there for the next 10 events. The goal is for it to roam around the country making it possible for others to more easily come out and play too. That said....anyone near KY, or within a few hours....you better take this opportunity to come to NATS becuase who knows where it will be next!

The committee has already begun doing lots of legwork around the event...and we will be posting/sharing info as time goes by...so be on the lookout for updates from time to time. We may even pull in a couple more people (locals would be nice) for scouting/legwork/etc.

Now that I've broken the 40k mark, I don't mind driving to a few distant events! I hope to be there and look forward to a NASTE caravan. Never made it to BG in the Buick (GN/GS Nats), so looking forward to seeing the place/track etc.

Truckless. For now.
Re: Bowling Green, Kentucky

Only a 12 hour drive...I'll see if I can't make it in 8.

I hear if you cruise WOT without letting up, you can drain the tank in 30 minutes. Let us know if that's true

Time to start saving for a trip east.

According to Mapquest, I don't think my Typhoon is making this trip. Not likely to fly either..... Guess I'll have to wait for the next one.:(

I show a little more than 14 hours.....should we see who can get there quicker? Guess that's the good thing about being in Texas.....pretty much half way to everything.... I'm anxious to see what time of year this will be planned for though.

I have been to Bowling Green, and have run on the track there. I think this is a pretty good choice.

There are some "other" events besides the track in the planning stages also. This will hopefully be a refreshing nats with some new ideas. Glad to see a lot of enthusiasm already for the location.

If anybody has not been to the track before it has a lot of history and other things to do right there. Anybody ever been to a track that has an amusement park? How about riding the new wooden roller coaster they put up?
