Got Boost?
About how long does it take to install a BOV? I just ordered one and i dont really know much about how to install it so any help is appreciated!

Re: Bov

you'll need a custom pipe to attach it someplace in between your turbo outlet and your throttle body.

there is no place to just bolt one on the stock truck.

The problem with just putting a BOV on a vehicle that never had one is the air being vented has already measured before it was vented and your ECU has adjusted your fuel to match it. when then you vent it to atmosphere it doesn't go in to the engine.

a recirculating blow off valve that recirculates the airback in to the system after the MAF is the only way to go if you want a correct setup.

race cars that vent to atmosphere have a complicated setup that allows the computer to adjust for the vented air.

I'm not saying an atmosphere BOV slapped on a sy/ty wont work but it probably won't work correctly and your probably giving up engine performance for the sake of on/off throttle turbo response.

a single vent for a drag race after you left off the throttle won't hurt (it won't do any good either) but venting everytime you get off the gas if you autocross or road race will do more harm than good.

Our trucks don't use Mass Air Flow.. so this isn't a concern

Is this really a problem?

I have a SSQ BOV and it sounds good, and really I have never had any problems with it. For the custom pipe, I just took a radiator hose, cut it in half, and made a custom pipe out of stuff I got from the local hard ware store. Then I put the two parts of the radiator hose on each end of the homemade "flange" to hook them up on the turbo and the IC. I want a custom pipe just for the fact that it looks cleaner. I think custom pipes are worth the money.

Re: Bov

A MAP sensor source is typically inside the inlet manifold's plenum chamber if a Sy/ty
soley uses a MAP sensor and throttle angle for air measurement and takes it's measurement from inside the intake then it may not hurt to vent to atmosphere since your venting the air before it is being read inside the intake.

Some cars using MAP sensors use a combination of sensors to read the air flow and it is not a good idea to use a VTA BOV but, on a MAF system it is never a good idea.

I am not 100% sure how the Syclone and Typhoon take thier measurements but just being a MAP system doesn't necessarily make it safe.
