A boost control solenoid is bad when it flips you off, pulls its vacuum lines, hobbles into your house, logs onto SyTy.net, and posts maintenance questions in the lounge...
I would check your wastegate adjustment first. If it is set properly and it doesn't make 8-9psi, I would suspect the catalytic converter.
Also, is the 1997157 the same as the 1997244?
I was wondering because I've been running the one I took off my SC 3800 which is the other part number I listed. I've had it on since last year and it seemed to be the same, just cleaner than the one I took off.
I looked it up and found http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=85523 on here, but it doesn't look like they ever tested it.
If nothing else I'll order new foam piece at least, maybe a new solenoid too.
I'll adjust the wg rod first, but I'd like to know why it makes full boost sometimes and not others. Could WG be stock open partially?
