Body Swap - Conversion

I currently have a 1993 4 door ty powered Blazer and I would like to swap to the newer body style. I want to keep the ty drivetrain on the 93 frame and hang a 95 4dr blazer body. Has anyone ever swaped a 2door newere body onto an typhoon or done anything similiar. I am sure eveyones first question is why not swap the drivetrains? I do not want to deal with the newer body ABS issues that I've heard about. The wheel bases are the same. Anyone accomplish something similiar??????????????????

Sorry about the typo...............it's a 1993
thanks for the info,, I will try the s10 web site

I don't know about blazers, but a guy did this a couple of years ago using a 1991 syclone chassis into a 1996 body.....he claims it was a very straight forward swap....he claimed that all the holes lined up perfectly to bolt the sy frame to the 96 body....I'm suprised I was able to find the thread as I had to weed through tons of threads titled "syclone motor in newer gen s10" crap....This user seemed to just disappear from the face of this board....the photos in his briefcase are non viewable now as well....good luck

Compare the wheel bases to the two door to the four door. If they are the same it should be a go.

Or try posting on www.v8s10.org These guys know the S10 inside and out.

The wheelbase of a 4 door should be the same a longbed or ext cab truck. Longer than a 2 door blazer / truck.

Re: Body Swap - Conversion

He's putting a new 4 door on an old 4 door frame.

You guys are just complicating things.

Servando, if you are referring to my comment that "I was starting to wonder about the members on this site" please don't take it personally. Although I don't own a sy or ty, I do have a ty powered 4 door s10 blazer. I sometimes get annoyed by the replies to anyone asking a conversion question. There seems to be more sarcasm then helpful info. Your reply was appreciated.

So, when the next n00b comes in and asks if the swap can be done on vehicle xyz, can we just give them your info? Would probably help a lot of them out.

It would probably be helpful to have someone write up a sticky type post on converting a non syty s-series and what are the major obstacles. A lot of us haven't done that type of swap since we already have a SyTy. We really don't know what the pitfalls are. I have an idea on from working on my Sy on what it would take, what parts are unique to SyTy, but no practical experience. (plus I personally haven't really ever worked on a regular S-Series besides grabbing junkyard parts)

Re: Body Swap - Conversion

i think he just wants to know if the 93 4dr blazer frame is the same as say a 95 and up 4 door blazer frame......... COYOTE u might have better luck with this questions on say S10forum.com...there ull find a better verity of s10s and blazers this site is more focused on sy-ty's...and as far as your question im fairly positive that the body will bolt on to that frame, ur prolly going to need the rad suport and maybe the wire leads ( pigtails )for the lights...do u have a body lined up yet? if so grap a tape and mesure it out....
