Got the passenger side buttoned up today. Took about 1/4" worth of shims and I'll proably add a 1/16" more just to make the door even easier. I'm so glad I did this myself. I'll take some pics as I do the other side now that I know what I'm doing.
For seam sealer, I used a polyurethane seam sealer from Lowes made for fireplaces, masonry, and concrete. It takes about 3 days to dry but it is VERY flexible so I'll never have to worry about water getting in the top of the mount box or the reinforcement panel for the floorboard. The way GM made it, water splashes up and down into the reinforcement plate and runs down into mount box. NOT GOOD.
