Block Question

Are all 93-older 4.3 blocks the same as SY/TY blocks?

A friend of mine has an 86 blazer and he is going to part it out. He is going to give me the engine. Would I be able to use the block and maybe the crank for an engine build?

If not what year blocks will work??

Dave's right....most people tend to go with the roller block for the improved lifter design, but don't junk the '86 block just yet.....it does have it's benefits (financially).

PROS
-------
- Has the 1 pc rear main seal.
- Cheaper lifters (1/2 cost due to less efficient flat tappet design).
- Cheaper camshaft (1/2 cost due to less hardened cam stock).
- Decent cam selection (Comp 18-124-4 - 218 dur/454 lift).
