I saw a blk ty last sunday at the mall. Sounded very quiet so I'm guessing its stock. It was driving by jcpenny's. If you are around the area again on a sunday stop by I work at the firestone on sundays 9-5.

Stop by some sunday if your around. Not Aug 9th though thats syty nats time :D

How do you like Midas? Not positive how "into" you get with cars there but I think they might be looking for some general service people as there are a couple people quitting and going back to school soon. Stop by sometime and ask for Pat and tell him Dave V sent ya. Drive there with the ty they will like it :D
Email me if you would like some more info.

My mon thru fri job is down the street off Cleveland and calhoun, its where my poor sy has been sitting for a while. Hopefully after the nats I will be able to spend some time on it.

We do pretty much everything, except transmissions, but BTM Transmission is on the other side of the wall from us  . Our typical work is brakes, exhaust, tires, shocks, and my favorite...the $19.99 oil change/tire rotation/brake inspection:roll:

Sounds like typical repair shop ;)

I love my fleet maintenance job like it far better than I ever liked working firetire full time.
Only problem lately is that I'm on vaca next week so I'm working really hard to make sure everything is good to go for next week. I'm the only mechanic at our new berlin shop and my boss is in madison so I pretty much run the shop :D

Re: Blk Ty Brookfield Square Mall

Nice. If I may ask, where do you work and what kind of stuff do you do? My hrs are getting cut to less than 30 a week so the company doesn't have to offer me ins, along with the low pay.

Re: Blk Ty Brookfield Square Mall

I work for Mega Rentals. We are a traffic control company, I am a fleet mechanic and work on our pick up trucks, medium duty isuzus, arrowboards, message boards, trailers etc.
The whole marquette interchange was our signs, barrels, arrow boards, and messageboards.

Its a fun job, I have been there for over 6 yrs. We aren't hiring right now and probably won't hire anymore mechanics here unless we get a bigger building.
I have worked at the brookfield firestone for over 10 yrs now, quit working full time once I got my other job.
They are both real good places to work for I just like the fleet work better than dealing with customers etc.

I also have a small llc auto repair business working on cars for some extra $$$

Like I said you could stop by firestone and see if they are hiring for something that you would be comfortable doing. I have heard that 2-3 people are leaving in the next month for school etc so I would guess they will be hiring. Pat(the boss) will be gone next week so if you can't make it tomorrow I would try 2 weeks from now and just see what he says.
This is the best firestone to work at, its the zone headquarters and the biggest, the guys are good people, and its always one of the top stores in the u.s.

You do much custom exhaust work at midas? I made my 3.5 exhaust for the sy but need to make some good hangers for it yet, haven't found anything I really liked yet just wondering if you guys have some nice pieces.

Re: Blk Ty Brookfield Square Mall

Cool, if anything opens up at Mega let me know, that's what I'm looking for. We do custom exhaust, we have a really good (but old) bender that doesn't crush the pipes as badly as some, it looks almost as good as a mandrel. We have flexpipes, hangers, all kinds of stuff. If you can think of it, we can do it for the most part. We can even order chrome/stainless tips, I was looking at the catalog the other day.

Re: Blk Ty Brookfield Square Mall

Well at Mega we dont really hire any mechanics unless someone leaves and the only other location of ours that has mechanics is madison. We do hire guys for out on the road slinging barrels etc, but I doubt that would be a job you would want.

I have the exhaust on the sy all done I just want to find some hangers that accept the rod like factory exhausts have, then get some rod and weld it to the pipe. Those universal hangers that use the exhaust clamp suck.
Let me know if you can get some of those, I have a couple things I am looking into lately.
After the nationals I will probably start buying some pieces to finish that part of the truck.

I will let ya know if anything opens up and to see if you can help out with the exhaust once I figure out what I am looking for :D

Unless I'm grossly mistaken that was probably me if you're referring to 7-19. You're actually pretty right on with the stock guess  If you check the mods I pretty much only have they KB CAI setup and a Borla cat-back. I wasn't at the mall necessarily, but at the Sprint store right by it paying my cell bill. I did use the mall exit by JCPenny's. If my receipt serves me right I was out near the mall around 2:10-15 on Sunday the 19th. That sound about right? :dunno: I wouldn't mind stopping out for a visit except that on this past Wednesday night my tranny decided it would be a good time to have an internal reverse breakage :bad-word: It was a stock tranny and I hope to have it soon replaced with a built 700R4 or 4L80E. You don't happen to do transmissions at Firestone? I'd much prefer to have a SyTy enthusiast work on my truck than a regular mechanic that's somewhat familiar with performance vehicles... And I thought 13 wasn't really an unlucky number

Re: Blk Ty Brookfield Square Mall

Hmmm I wonder if there were 2 tys that day?
I remember seeing one drive on the rd in front of firestone then a while later there was one up by the food court then it turned down a lane by sears.

Firetire does replace trannies but I wouldn't be the one doing it as I only work sundays.
If you would like I can probably help you out though. Are you looking to pull that one out and have someone rebuild it then reinstall?
Send me an email and we can go over some things and see if I can help.

Also from what I have heard rpm transmissions does great work, not sure if they do the 700r4 but I guess the owner is a syty guy and knows what the trucks need. Might want to give him a call and see if he could rebuild it and we could do the install.

Talk to you later :D
