The main purpose of it is strength. The trucks that are running this t-case are very high HP trucks - the stock t-case wouldn't hold up (or so it is believed).

But, it is also switchable to 2WD so you can heat up the tires.

A) Can you switch to 2wd while moving / under power?

B) Wouldn't high HP trucks be able to turn over all 4, also heating up the tires?

1. It is a shift on the fly t-case - but I don't know about under full-throttle.

2. Yes.

Don't hold me to this, but I remember being told the limits as to when you can shit on the fly and throttle and being very disappointed. But, can't remember the numbers unfortunetly.

The reason I asked was I wanted to launch in AWD and switch to RWD after the 60' but was told that was not possible.

I'm going with the "or so it is believed" part. Robert told me the stock T-case in his Sy has never been touched since it left the factory. Thats good enough for me.

Me too. I've heard more stories of t-cases going fast than I have of them breaking.

It would make sense if you weren't able to. I don't think there'd be much to gain though. You're still spinning the front propshaft/diff/axles...Yeah - there isn't any power going to them but the associated drag is still there.

Oh yeah, I know what you mean, it was more of wishful thinking you know.

But to back up what Justin said, I agree with him, remember, that ttv8 truck went 9.55 in the mile high air with a stock rear and t-case, and that truck makes ALOT more power than most of us will ever see
