bigger turbo

What is the biggest stock turbo? I'm guessing some thing off a diesel quad cab dually or something like that? Is it best to stick with GM or would a Dodge or Ford turbo be OK to use on my Jimmy? I want 2 of them and figured why bother with the Mitsubishi ones at all if there is something bigger out there? I'm looking for 3 inch in and out. Anyone know? Do the Volvo semi trucks get turbos? They would have to be HUGE! If they do, I'll take 2 please!

Why not do some research and find the BEST turbo for your application rather than the physically largest one?

yeah dude you r totally on the right track. call caterpillar and ask them for the largest turbo they use on their V16 generator motors.

or call up precision turbo, and get you a pair of PT76's......... or actually thats probably on the small side. why dont you get a pair of PT98's. yeah now were talking!!!

The best turbo for my application would be the one I can find in the junk yard. I just need to know what to look for. I want 3 inch inlets and outlets to work with my planned duall exhaust and headers. But if I have to go with 2 1/2 I will. I'm really just trying to figure out what comes on the big trucks and is pretty easy to come across. No cutom special order out of stock expensive turbo. Just big and cheap. I only need 24 lbs of boost, but would prefer 2 turbos mainly to keep the engine and hood scoop symetrical.

Head to amazon.com and buy the book, maximum boost.

I think that will answer your questions about what turbo is *BEST*...

unless you are going for ricer mods, where bigger and multiple are always better.

If you want cheap, and symetrical, go twin stockers. Not best setup, but seems you aren't concerned about best.

PSI doesn't mean anything. it comes down to air density, turbo efficiency...

not that I haven't read maximum boost, a dozen times...

Just go get some solid fuel. Get a JATO pack, yeah. Atleast you'll go really fast once. But you'd better not forget the neon lites on the valve stems. Without those you might run out of traction.

No, he needs NAAAWWWSSSSS, and the big ones, better make it 2 of em, and hary, he needs them by tonight. I say start looking for one off of a tug boat. I saw a picture once with a guy standing next to a turbo. the inlet had to be 12" or more in diamter, that turbo should suport your 24psi needs, I peronly only need a 20 pound turbo(see you have to call the by how much they weigh, or the ricers don't under stand. you may also want to get a 15foot wing, some yellow type r stickers(beacuse everyone knows yellow is the fastes color) and 2 of those exhaust tips with led's in em.
