best head casting

I've tried the search, but havn't been able to determine what the best head casting number would be for a perf upgrade.
seems that there are quite a few choices, and I'm sure that each has some advantages/disadvantages. one guy on ebay says there is no diff. I can't agree. I'm sure there is a "preferred" head to use for a starting point.
If nothing else was done, other than required mods, what head(s) should one look for and why?
Never had stupid questions like this with my sb's,bb's gn's or harleys

i think the one you're looking for is a 96+ head and it requires alot of work to mate up...or L35's seemed to have done well in the past...search for both of them...good luck...by the way, happy landings fellow pilot... 0X

ATP here... but enough about me. if you want the best heads from gm. you need vortec's which are anything 96 and up. but they do not bolt on. you have to mod several things...and there are enough posts on here that will tell you how it's done. if not I can do it for you.

the 92-95 L35 heads bolt on and are a small step up from the stockers...

the aluminum brodix heads have the best casting, however expect to pay almost $1000 more just to start off with a bare head. Many guys are going vortecs b/c you can have an assembled set using mostly stock valvetrain with mild porting for the same amount as a bare set of aluminum heads. However some others would rather save the money needed to modify the lower intake and put it towards a better designed, lighter brodix head.
