I may be the guinea pig on this one, but it is kind of hard to part with what I know works. Being I just finish doing the rear and I am now ready to do the front and put solid motor mounts as well.

There is alot of threads on this. I could not find the one I'm thinking about; somewhere there is a thread about a company who builds there stuff just like Moog. Its much cheaper and pretty much is the same exact part. Moog sells there plans to this company. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

Last I knew it was the cheaper napa line but it is junk IMO :tup:

I have been using the high end napa joints. I have over 5k miles on mine. Took them apart last night and they still look brand new. I also have the RPM coil overs. Not sure why you would have a problem with only 4k miles?

Is Your truck lowered? How much is it?
Generally what causes balljoint wear is the angle at which they ride on lowered sy/tys.

Has anyone tried these yet?
I've only just installed one side so far, no road time yet as I'm doing a complete front end rebuild.
One thing I did notice was that I was having a hell of a time getting grease to go into the lower joint. There was a lot of back pressure on the grease gun.
When I unscrewed the nipple a little I was able to get the grease to go in much easier.
So I wound up filing the end down on the threaded part of the nipple that screws into the ball joint. Then the grease went in nice and easy. So the threaded end of the nipple may be a little to long.

yeah I am interested. Also P&P made a 2WD balljoint that corrects for lowered angle, how could use these? They look a similar design to the uppers, but a different taper.
Could it be machined

Around 100K on a blazer with them in it, no problems. Considering it had 2 sets, in the first 60K, the OEM ones and a set of Moog. I feel they're definitely superior. The shop that installed and aligned it was a moog shop (same shop that installed the previous set) and when I ask about installing them, he told me no guarantee, if they didn't use their parts. But I figured anything has to be better then putting in ball joints all the time. He was impressed with the PP ball joints, and felt they were some of the best he'd ever seen in over 40 years of installing front end parts.

Many ball joints look similar because they fit the same application. The difference is often in the internal bearing design, in the quality of metals used, and the heat treat process.

Bearings? In a ball Joint? since when? :roll: lets see some test Data, or metallurgical reports? The numbers on the over the counter parts and yours are the same,

What I meant was that the internal design of the ball joint is often different - we use a 1 piece ball stud whereas many competitors use a 2 piece ball stud (one piece is much stronger). We polish the ball while competitors "rock tumble" them.

The part numbers are the same because we both use the Moog numbering system - it is the industry standard system for ease of identification.

We use SAE4130 steel for the ball studs and SAE1045 for the housings - competitors use low carbon steel instead.

I don't have the testing figures for the SyTy ball joints in front of me. What I can give you is the S10 2WD figures.

just a few questions you state mild carbon steel with a rockwell of 31-32 industry standard, but you claim 60 is this diamond or ball tech? for stud pullout what testing method was used? slow and steady or shock? Im not busting your balls im just curious as my family rides on these parts

We induction harden the 4130 steel to a rockwell of 60 on the stud head. The stud shaft is around 40 if I remember correctly.

Testing method for stud pullout is slow and steady.
