Bed side R&R.....estimates ?

Re: Bed side R&R.....estimates ?

I know in WA state they can't force you to go to any shop your allowed to go where you want.

Do you plan to fix it yourself or let a shop do it? If a shop is, sometimes it is easier to let them fight the battle.

I am no insurance expert, but I would think you might be able to call and say "I am dropping it off Monday at X shop to get fixed, you figure out between them how to pay and make sure there is a rental car waiting for me Monday when I drop it off. I will await the check for diminished value of my rare and collectable truck when I go back to approve the repairs with my lawyer."

Man insurance companies get my blood going. Here you are minding your own business and some dumbass hits you, now you have to deal with no truck, getting it fixed and the insurance.

Don't even get me started if your house burns down which happened to my mom. They come out right away and issues a check to make you feel good, then 3 days later give you low ball bids to fix it, don't want to pay for shit, etc. Nevermind she was a customer of over 20 yrs.

In the end it worked out for her as she hired a fairly good public insurance adjuster and her offer of ~$150k doubled. he did get a percentage but obviously his 15% of whatever of 300k still left her with more than 150k.

Not sure if they are available for car stuff though.

Yea what Jeff said is what it is when my parked honda got FUC_ED I took it whereever I wanted they gave me a check that did not even come close to the cost so I singed the check over to the shop and they billed the ins. company for the other $8157.66
in total it was $11.157.66 they gave me a check for $3000 thinkin I was just a kid I would cash it and once you cash it case closed no mo money...
I carry full cov. on all my cars $20,000 extra on my denali for wheels and stereo and
$35,000 full pay out on the TYPHOON (stolen or wrecked) for collectors ins. because I only drive it less then 1000 mi. a year  I also told my ins. comp. if something happens to my TY i dont want it or want to see it...

? DANG! I dunno how I missed this post... Sorry to hear about your luck, glad that you are OK

. Anywho, here's some pics that I took for Pete H. back in the day when he was looking to get carbon fiber beds made to save some weight and needed to know how much everything weighed:

uvs030126_002.jpg

"198 pound bed. Yes, the weight of the saw horses was tared..."

uvs030126_003.jpg

"32.5 pound tailgate."

The bed weight is *just* the bed and cladding, the tailgate and rollpan was NOT on it when I weighed it. Based on the observations in this thread, you could subtract 20 plus pounds from the bed weight and that would get you close. HTH's

Nice, thanks. I was curious to the roadblocks ( aside of cost) if any that he'd experianced or the fabricator did ?? Lots there to engineer into the molds aside from just the SIZE and number of molds to build.
Cheers,Vinny
