Bad Idle, no acceleration, Code44, bouncing boost?

Re: Bad Idle, no acceleration, Code44, bouncing boost?

Okay, my daily driver just spun another rod bearing, so i decided to work on the truck today, since now neither one of my cars is mobile.

Has anyone ever heard of a trany or TC problem where it seems like under constant load, like towing a house?
I pulled the TC cover off, the unbolted the TC and pushed is back just enough to clear the flexplate. I started the engine and now it idles smooth and revs freely, as if in nuetral. Before with the TC bolted up the engine would not rev freely in Nuetral or any gear. Even in neutral it seemed like the engine was working harder than it should be...

Anyone had this problem, I'm wondering if its the torque converter or the trany or both?

I haven't experienced this but it sounds like an unhappy transmission to me ... is the trans fluid clean / recently changed? Kinda almost sounds like the input shaft is dragging due to a bad bearing

If you have an issue with trans and or torque converter - it is both anyways. You won't want any of the crap from the converter going into the trans and you don't want the crap from the trans going in to the converter. Sounds like time for a trans rebuild and a new converter...

i'd check your fuel pump operation and fuel pressure . no fuel could be your code 44

All the fuel stuff is brand new.. Its definatly a trany issue. I just pulled the pan, the fuild is dark red and it was just changed about 200 miles ago. I made a drain plug while i had the pan off. Anyway, i put it all back together and started the engine and the vibs and sluggish revving came back... Oh and i didnt mention early, without the TC bolted on the CEL (code 44) didnt come on, when the TC is bolted on the CEL comes on seconds after starting the engine. If i rev it a little it goes out sometimes but just comes back on a couple seconds later. The 44 is somehow a by product of the trany issue.

You guys are not going to believe this.... the idle problems, lack of power and acceleration, the Code 44.... all caused by a bad PCV valve. It was stuck open. So now my trucks back up and running. :p

My 4.3 NA in my s10 did the same damn thing when my EGR valve went out. Also when the egr valve went it screwed up 3 and 6 injectors.
