Bad idle during cold startup- running excessivly rich

Got 1000 hp?
Okay, before you get on me, I searched for 2 days. I just installed a nice Taylor battery box in the back of my Typhoon to protect the battery and since then the truck had idled like crap on cold startup, stalling it out with excessive fuel and runs extremely rich throughout the entire rpm band. I did not disconnect the battery when I placed it in the box and there is nothing shorting out. I have a Phil Long chip the previous owner put in due to the engine upgrades and 50lb injectors.
Could this be a relearn needed for the ECM for some reason and if so how do I do that?

Worse case scenerio, does anyone have the contact info for Phil if there is a problem with the chip.

do you have a ground from the engine block to the chassis and from the block to fire wall? Common problem when relocating batteries.

Had this before, X 2 on the engine grounds. Also check distributor connections/module if the grounds are clean and tight.

I am wondering if your in limp mode.

Does the chip have the factory memcal attached to it and is it on the right dirrection?

Re: Bad idle during cold startup- running excessivly rich

The battery was already relocated in the back. It just was not in a box-just had a plain battery tray and hold down before. All I did was bolt in an actual battery box and drop in the entire battery so all the engine grounds are the same.
FP is fine. Engine is built with a larger turbo and exhaust with 50lb injectors. I have not touched the chip and to be honest I am not even sure where it is, I have not had to do a damn thing to the truck since I have owned it and it ran flawless until the startup right after placing the battery in the box.

All I can imagine is that somehow it lost 12v from the battery for a split second and wigged out the ECM

Checked the fuses?

Again, it sounds like it's in limp home. Pull the chip out and re-seat it... sometimes they come loose.

Other than that, dead ECM. You'd be surprised at the spike that can get created from a battery hookup.

I pulled the ECMB fuse as well as disconnected the negative to the battery today. I will get under the dash and remove the chip tomorrow and put it all back in and see if it makes a difference.
I agree it sounds like a "limp mode" or a relearn needed for the chip. I guess we'll see tomorrow if this fixes the problem.

Re: Bad idle during cold startup- running excessivly rich

Well, let it sit for 2 days and reattached the battery and ECMb fuse and it ran fine. However the next time I started it up it must have went into limp mode again and continues to run like crap. Guess I will have to get a scanner and see if something is amiss elsewhere...Any suggestions?

Cliff notes:
Built engine with 50lb'ers-Phil long chip
Battery relocated to rear with ordinary battery tray
Ran flawless until I put relocated battery into Taylor box and since then has ran excessivly rich and idles like crap until warm.
Let sit with battery disconnected for 2 days and first startup runs correctly and every startup after runs rich and idles like crap.

Re: Bad idle during cold startup- running excessivly rich

No codes except code 12 (normal) No one has any ideas? I am on the verge of selling this truck now, help me get her back in shape so I don't. It makes no sense that it would go into limp if that is what it is doing now with nothing different except an aluminum battery box around the battery.

My money is on ECM.

Would the ECM not throw a code? I've been leaning towards it but after resetting it for about a day it runs great- for about 20 minutes and goes pig rich. Anyone have a spare ECM?
