Back In She Goes....

Well after 3 months of headaches and changes, the motor is finally going back in. Here are a couple of the pics. I will be repainting the Syclone lettering red and the Turbo 4.3 black on the polished upper. Let me know what you think.

Thanks guys. Well this is the 4th time it has been out in 3 years so I have had my fair share of issues. It's been worth it though.

how hard is it to yank theses motors i need to yank mine and rebuild it??

Well since mine is a conversion I cant speak for everyone else, but taking it back out has never been hard. It just seems that nothing ever goes back together quite as easily. This time it was the exhaust manifolds. If I didnt know any better I would have thought they were mistakingly swapped out with another set. There always seems to be something that makes the job harder than what it should be.

Re: Back In She Goes....

I like it. I went a little different route and put a V8 in my X-cab sonoma and bought a typhoon.

What tranny? I'm assuming no AWD. I like the C6 wheels. I was thinking about going with the same ones for my truck, I'm just having trouble finding street wheels for the narrowed 9" in the back with 5 X 4.5" bolt pattern. Doesn't work well with the corvette offset and 4.75" spacing.

Did you have current performance make you a new custom harness? How's it working for you?

Thanks for the props. I went with a built TH350 this time and no AWD. Actually Jared at Current took over completing the truck. The new harness looks factory. He actually traced down several wiring problems prior to making a new harness for me. I have nothing but good things to say about his work as many of my other friends.

Re: Back In She Goes....

I'd mentaly measured how close that newer compressor design/front accrys would fit with the Typhoon intake. Glad it works...!!

I think I'm going to update my wife's front accrys to (Hopefully) get the A/C to be cold! It just seems like the older compressors don't work very good and take alot of power to run. I think the newer compressors like you've got on there are better and they are designed for 134a.
Great setup!
I turbo'd our 98 Jimmy with old typhoon parts... Works great! Just need the Marine intake so I can use her stock (Typhoon) injectors.
Great job!

Thanks. Nothing like a little sleeper truck with 500hp  I bet that little Jimmy has some getup and go in it too.

No real problems with the accessories. Only when I went to the PTE61 did I start to have minor fittment issues. Had to grind down the Alt bracket just a bit. Nothing else though. I thought I would have trouble with the new polished valve covers over the the vortec heads. No issues there either.

That's neat! Putting it to the ground now there's a challange. ;)

The Jimmy is working out nice. I just can't stand that factory injection setup for fueling.
It works ok now with 3/4 throttle but much more it's reading 100%duty cycle. And I'll watch the WB o2 go lean.
So up to about 8psi it's great.
2wd is great if you can use it!
Thanks for the info man!

Yeah, 500 to the wheels no problem. Traction = 0 on streets. It's crazy fun though breaking loose at 50mph or launching at 7psi and never moving :rotf:

Re: Back In She Goes....

dont worry about that Don, it doesnt take much for 2wd trucks to pull AWD like 60fts or better
