AWD Conversion

Hey, I'm new to this site and it was recommended from another forum. I am looking for information on converting an S10 into a Syclone.

I have a few questions though.

First, if I started with a 4x4 S10 and I had an AWD Safari or Astro, do I just need to switch the transfer case to make the S10 AWD to? If not, what else do I have to do?

Secondly, if I manage to convert this S10, where would I go about getting a Syclone bodykit and how much am I looking at spending for one?

Thirdly, how much work is it to do this conversion? It is something I could do on a weekend or is this going to be a long time project?

Last, 4x4 short box regular cab S10's are getting pretty rare up here in Canada. Can I buy a 2wd S10 and use the driveline out of the Safari to make the truck AWD? Can I take all the parts off the van and put them on the truck?

Oh, one last thing. If you do this, will I have any problem putting a 350 in the truck as well? I have no idea how much a 4.3turbo would run me but it'd probably be real expensive and complicated. I would just as soon drop in an LT1 or something that I can pick up cheap.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks again,

JR

Re: AWD Conversion

All of your questions have been answered numerous times in previous threads. You'll spend more money converting something... just buy a syclone if you really want one.

Search in the syty conversions forum.

Re: AWD Conversion

theres a complete motor, trans, transfercase etc for sale on turbobuick.com for 2k if you really want to do all that work, but yea, you should just buy a sy or ty and be done with it.

Re: AWD Conversion

See I would consider just buying a Syclone, but I live in Canada and we don't have very many of those around.
I've never seen a Typhoon and only one Syclone in my life. They are ultra rare and hard to find.
So that's why I want to build one
