August South TX meet

I want to know everyone's opinion on possibly orginizing the largest most full day of SyTy you could imagine for everyone in Texas. Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas is full of SyTy owner's! Many of which dont visit the boards often as others, if not at all. I havent done a damn thing with any SyTy peeps in a long time and im going to orginize the largest Texas size SyTy meet ever! There is no excuse for this not to happen every spring summer and fall of every year. And give a chance for those who have not been introduced to be united. Ok that sounded a lil weird. This day needs to be on a Saturday because it's gonna be all day long. My thoughts are as follows:

These dates are my suggested dates. This needs to go down in AUGUST.

8-12am Gather togather at a location to be decided for everyone to show up. This will give everyone a 4hr window before we start a BBQ lunch. Outdoor's (some one's house) or a nice local park with alot of parking and a few BBQ pits. Take pictures, talk SyTy's and let everyone meet n' eat. Locations to decide are north Austin, or north Houston.

2-3pm Cruise to a nice 1/4mile track for some saturday night racing, then everyone head home.
San Antonio Raceway has a very nice 1/4 track. Saturday nite "midnight madness" drags and is pretty much our only option.

Im thinkin meet in either Austin or Houstin then head to San Antonio Raceway, Lets do some driven. Thats what cruisin is all about anyway.

What does everyone think? I need a count of who is in and what are you bringing? This should give everyone enough time to get there truck just the way they like it. Girls are welome, my GF will be there.

Oooo, this would give me a reason to quit ignoring my ty and fix it.

if i can get my turbo rebuilt before then, then i'm in for sure.

Sounds like a good plan.....I'll do what I can to be there....unfortunately it won't be in the Sy. But it'll be a good chance to meet some of the other SyTy owners....

I'd be in, but I doubt the Sy will be back together by then. Mike over at RPM is building a motor for me as we speak.

I am down for a meet. I am planning to go to Nats also but will have to wait till closer to see if there will be any budget issues. Let's see what we can work out.

My motor is put together (on a stand), I'm just waiting on the turbo kit and torque converter I ordered to arrive before I drop it in. All that's left is exhaust, propshaft, and a tune. I would definitely be down for a meet, just preferably a little ways off so I can get the truck back on the road.

Just say when and where......I'll do my best to be there. Would love to meet some more SyTy guys. Like I said....I won't be in the truck....but would love to hang out.

Lets do somthing around late august after nats, would you have yours ready by then? We have a new owner in houston, and i need to help jack get his new trans in his truck. We would have a very good turnout.

I sure hope so. The turbo kit and torque converter are already bought and paid for back on 4/11/11 just waiting on them to ship. All the wiring for the truck is done (battery relocate, gauges, NHRA kill switch). As soon as parts show (mainly the torque converter so I don't have to pull the tranny later) the motor goes in.

I'm with LIL QIK, even if for some reason the truck isn't done I would still love to hang out and meet other SyTy'ers. If all else fails I can cruise the 57'.

Hey....we going to do this as a family thing? My wife and kids would love to see what a true running and driving SyTy looks like......:rotf: . I'd probably bring my '96 Impala SS/TT. They'd love to see the '57 too Jharrison. We are definitely a family that admires cars....

I am not on here that often and completely missed the original post. If Humble is not too far from everyone, we could have the Houston guys meet up at our shop. We are having an open house this Saturday (7th) if anyone wants to stop by.
