That might work in a pinch. I'll probably just get the socket. I can't find any for sale locally though.

then you have to go and clean vasoline out of your wheels. Jimmy might be accustomed to getting vasoline out of various parts of his truck, but I would rather have scratched wheels then deal with that mess. :lol:

We used a couple of wraps of electrical tape. Or shrink tube works well also.

I just go with spline drive nuts and key. The spline nuts are smaller, and the tool won't touch the wheel, and brings the socket and air gun way outside and away from the wheel, and doubles as a lock too.

electrical tape here.. my car has black wheels with black lugs and it works well although I don't use a impact gun on any lug nut

Good input. I might end up buying a set of black lugs so I'll probably just skip the socket and use the key. It looks like it's a much lower profile and won't touch the wheel.
