anyone heard of this? jumps between gears

as i'm driving and go down hill my trans will shift between 3rd and 4th and i really can't put a diagnosis on it, so i put it in drive and the same thing happens at about 40 or so it'll jump between 2nd and 3rd. anybody have a clue?

and another thing, she wants to go! and not just inch foward but i have to push pretty hard on the brake to keep it from runnin from me. it idles and 1100 in drive and a crazy 2300 to 2500 in N or Park

what do i need to spend money on? :tdown:

Check for vacuum leaks first.

Are you actually driving around like that?

As for the high idle... check your IAC motor for proper function / calibration. I am not sure which terminals you ground to reset it but I'm sure someone who knows will chime in. I had my truck idling up around 1900 for a little till I reset it... now it won't idle below 1k because of the cam :lol:

It's your TC locking and unlocking. Not a gear shift. Put it in 3rd gear and leave the selector alone and see if it still does it. TCC most likely. Considering your trans doesn't go into 4th gear until at least 44 mph, your not having a 3-4 shuttle issue if it's doing it around 40. TCC locks up at any steady speed over 32 mph. Various other conditions make the lockup go on and off. If you've got a dicked up map signal from a leak, the computer will lock and unlock the converter like crazy until you get that problem fixed.
