Anyone have braided fuel lines?

Previous owner apparently bent the H3LL out of the lines on my Ty .....mostly where they connect to the fuel filter....both sides (from tank and towards engine).

Thinking about replacing everything from tank forward with braided lines.....I see that RPM sells a kit....is it better to purchase a kit or just piece it together with parts from Summit?

Difficult to install? Thanks!

if you havent done braided lines before, it might be better for you to buy a kit and save yourself some time.

i dont know the price of his kit, but I would have to imagine doing it yourself would be cheaper, but naturally more labor involved.

Installation should be the same either way, remove old, install new, heh

Re: Anyone have braided fuel lines?

A long time ago Hood had mentioned that he used soft copper tubing for fuel lines. I pm'd him to see how they were holding up. He replied great. So when I replaced the tank and sending unit, I ran 3/8" od soft copper and bought the correct GM X flare fittings from Earl's Online. I also put pipe insulation on them to keep from chaffing. Been 2+ years and no issues...Jim

i use that soft copper for work, and although it may be cheaper/easier, i would go with the braided line

I would recommend staying away from braided fuel lines unless you plan to use teflon lined all the way which gets very expensive

I had braided lines on my sy and it always smelled like gas and I hated it. I am replacing my braided lines with 1/2 stainless hard line and teflon lined hose at flex areas.

I have heard of many people using the aluminum fuel line also but never heard of copper on a vehicle before.
I though classic tube or inline tube has a file to make up new lines so maybe check with them for stock applications.

Good luck with the fix :)

Interesting link from the previous link.

PTFE is Polytetrafluoroethylene....the T doesn't directly stand for Teflon. Teflon is a brand name of PTFE from Dupont.....eh, splitting hairs, just a chemistry lesson for the day :D

I always thought stainless braided seemed expensive for what you got anyway since it was essentially "fancy covered" rubber hose.
