Re: Another VICTIM of Waller performance

you realize there is no injector constant in the stock code $58. you have to redo the fuel maps completely.

See now i dont think you have to go with a stand alone, although when you reach a certain limit you might have to, but i think the stock ecm is def capable of working well,as my stock ecm has done for many years,BUT the only way i think to do it is to get someone to strap it on to a dyno and custom burn a tune,it is so worth the time and money, everyone spends all this money on these trucks and then dosent want to spend say 500 for a dyno tune etc.

Communication goes a long ways. I find it to be exhuasting to continue to ask for what I have paid for. If someone is the first to step up and say yes I can do it, your would expect it in a timely manner.Customer service is very important to me.

Ty 1885 is not the only person to make claims against Waller. Maybe some of the others can chime in. But I am NOT looking to turn this into an official bashing of Waller. I understand he had twins (there is 2 full time jobs right there) and he does not dedicate his life to SyTy's BUT... from my personal experience with him, a timely return phone call would have been considered proper. I did not ever receive a return call by phone and the pm's were at times delayed as well. I own two customer service oriented businesses. I think it is proper, very quick and very simple to make a quick call and explain that there will be a delay in finalization. Don't let it go to the point that the customer gets pissed. Make a quick call and keep things cool. When customers get pissed, they call you out. When they are happy, they will seek you out. The internet can be your friend or enemy.

Re: Another VICTIM of Waller performance

i have been dealing with Waller for years now. He's done my vortecs heads, my transmission rebuild, and is currently doing my converter. Everytime i've had an issue or a question he's quick to respond and help out no questions asked. I'm sure whatever you have going on is unintentional and I think you are way quick to jump down someones throat. More people have great things say about Waller Performance than bad things. John will make it right... Other than Waller not being the quickest to get things done his quality always seems to be up to par. Chips are a pain and since I started working with Nolan for tuning help I've had my share of issues. Just my 2cents

Chris your right Its about $2500.00 for a Big Stuff 3, but also you start making power and need to buy a $6,000 tranny to handle the truck isn't cheap either.

What i'm talking about if i changed a cam on my truck gotta reburn new chip more dyno time, here we just take some driveability runs on the highway reset the fuel in Big stuff 3 and your done.

GT35R on 18lbs of boost 11.20 @ 120 mph on pump gas is pretty damn good since the other faster Typhoons mostly have 70 series turbo on their trucks. 2 years of consistant service til the crank got weak but swapped the crank, cyro treated, new cam and valvetrain and someone else on this board will be running mid 11's all day long with my motor combo.

When i first started i knew nothing about our trucks, McCoy helped me alot, pulled a good motor and got a built motor for $8,000 dollars to make my truck run 11's and 4 turbos later and blown motor for someone to tell me you should of installed a DFI inorder to make that power. This all happen in 2,000 miles and 9 months no warranty see ya later.
That why i got professional in magazines building my motors since they are racing motors which never carry warranties because if the tuner screws up the motor wasn't defective just tuned wrong.

My 2 cents.

Re: Another VICTIM of Waller performance

Just curious. When you asked him to burn you a chip, did you mention all the modifications you have done with your truck? The way I am reading is that you asked him to take your 50# and burn it to a 65# with no indication of the modifications. He probably did just what you asked and gave you an off the shelf base setting 65# chip, which with all the crap you have listed, might not work.

From the looks of it, you need a complete custom tune specific to your truck, not just a standard chip.

Of course, you may have told him your mods, I dont know. I just figured I would ask since it wasnt mentioned previously.

Re: Another VICTIM of Waller performance

I am going to throw my two cents in here. First off, you obviously know nothing about chipping or tuning. A good tuner can make a mistake that could keep the truck form firing. Does it happen often? probably not. I personally I have done business with Waller more than once and have always gotten a great product and support from him. FWIW, there are plenty of vendors on here who are plain straight up dicks. They seem to pick and choose who they are dicks to but it does happen. I have seen some vendors threaten other members, tell them where to stick it to guys just asking questions, that kind of thing. Some people have a totally different experience with the same vendor and say that theirs was the best experience ever. I think that since you bought something form him, you should give him the benefit of the doubt to make it right if he is indeed wrong. You have to be careful when talking to these vendors because they don't really NEED your business sine they just do it on the side. Watch what you say or you could be left in the dust fabbing up your own truck, and from the looks of it, you'd be screwed  I just think it is plain wrong to call yourself a victim when you don't even know if you have actually been screwed yet. Some of these guys call back asap, some take their time, some don't call back at all. If I had a dollar for every time a vendor has either been an ass to me or left me in a position to call someone else, I may not be a millionaire but I would be living comfortably. Welcome to SYTY world!!

Maybe i made a mistake for letting everyone know my exp. with Waller.
Maybe i should have kept quite and let you experience the same kind of treatment. But no, You see i care about people and dont want others to get same treatment.

Maybe John will learn to improve and to how treat his customers!

I went down the same road as you with Waller, except my journey went from a 6 week engine build to 18 MONTHS, and cost me many, many thousands fo dollars to get the same shit level of customer service. Had no idea this wasn't his primary job until we were well underway.

I think John needs to put something regarding that in his sig, so every time he posts, people have a very clear understanding of where his intentions stand.

Re: Another VICTIM of Waller performance

As a newbie to this board, I'd like to throw my :2cents: in. To John's credit, he called my about two weeks ago stating that he was shipping my chip back to me. Unfortunately, I havn't received it yet and I've been trying to get a hold of him. Since he didn't have any spare chips, I sent him mine and I've been down since. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt, but I also would like to driving my newly purchased Ty (I've had it for about two months and its been down for a month now.) If anyone has any suggestions on how I can get an Ultimate Chip for 50# inj, I would appreciate it. I'm hoping John will come through, but I'd also like to have a backup plan.

My buddy has one for sale, as he is going to a big stuff 3 unit. He already sold his 50lb injectors but still has the Ultimate chip. It's set-up for stock injector at the moment so you would have to send it to "hood" and have him reconfigure for 50lb injectors.

I have a thread with info in parts for sale area.

Re: Another VICTIM of Waller performance

well when i delt with john, i experienced some delays, but not any fault of his. in fact i didn't have some fittings i needed, i got him on phone that day and they were shipped to me the next at no charge, not even shipping. I understand he is a bussy guy helping the syty community as a part time job. he can do a better job of manging expectations on time, and be a little more prompt with replys. but over all i would definatly keep doing buissness with him and i am happy with everything he has done for me

This seems to be a repetitive problem.

It does indeed. He has a long history of poor customer service, little to no communication, and missing promised timelines. I'm sure that John is a great guy on a personal level, but this is business, and John is not treating many of his customers as they should be treated.

I really think it's time to rethink Waller's position as a sponsor of this board.

For those of you having issues with John - How many of you were aware that "Waller Performance" is little mroe than a hobby for John?
