Another fun Nats

This was my 2nd Nationals and it was as fun for me as it was last year. Their was 27 truck at the track (plus SonomaGTLover bought another truck as the meet ended) Pictures and Video don't do the meet justice. The meet is about the trucks and the people. Meeting and hanging out with other SyTy owners who have same common interests and go through the same punishment/enjoyment of ownership, makes its so much fun. It gives you idea's, motivation and support. The late parking parking always has its unforgetable moments as well ;) Anyone who hasn't attend the Nats, really should make an attempt to make it some point and time.

Some of my Highlights

Meeting all the SyTy owners, old and new.

The hotel cookies were goooood, one person in particular was in just a little too bit of a hurry to get them :)

Meeting Lisa, was a touching moment for me.

Seeing Ralph's very impressing/clean low mileage Ty running 11.0@125+mph in the hot weather. I am sure that truck will see even better time in the fall NJ air.

'Lobstah' left, the were quite a few of you who look like a cooked 'lobstah' on Saturday at the track.

The groups attempt to bring some diversity to the predominantly white male group on saturday night by giving a couple hotel guests rides. I am not sure what Will does on his joy rides, but his rider told us atleast a dozen times 'I have a hard on, that was funnnn'.

Seeing Lisa drinking TyRodd under the table.

Surstrumming, it has it own thread. If I have never had to smell another can of it again, it would be too soon.

Qwerty's slow motion fall in the track VHT in the Grand Prix.

The Ga-Dunk, Ga-Dunk truck :)

My thoughts exactly. This was a great time, and I'm glad I could've been a part of it.

Same Here, You Guys Made Me Feel Welcome, Even Though I Dont Own A Sy/ty. Most Car Shows There Are A Few People Who Are Stuck Up, But Here Everyone Was Cool. I Asked Many People If I Could Take Pictures Of Their Trucks, Ask Tons Of Stupid Questions, But No One Ever Made Me Feel Stupid.

One Day I Will Own A Sy Or Ty, Not Sure Which, But I WILL Own One.

I Had A Blast, I Will Be Back Next Year. My Only Complaint Was You Guys Should Have Sold Shirts At The Track, I Would Have Bought One.

I hate you all

I love all the meets for the same reasons, but one of these years I'm going to make it to Nats, truck or no... it just needs to not be in the middle of school  .... like, 2nd weekend in August would be perfect ;)

Yeah, a slightly earlier meet would be better for me too. I've had a blast both times, even without a truck, but I can see how it would be even better with one.

Re: Another fun Nats

this is my 4th.. 02,05,06,07 and danielle's 2nd..

We both had a blast and if you own a syty, are a member of this forum, love cars/trucks, or just like to have a damn good time with very cool and unique people you should attend this event.

Bowling was awesome, Rodney and Zack dancing is on video and will eventually be made public.. along with the girls playing video games...

it was great seeing everyone again, I cryed a bit when I didn't win the tranny, and landing in NJ was interesting to say the lease (rough landing, very very hard braking, and waiting to get a gate at the airport.. then getting lost twice on the way home) but we can't wait to do it again next year. (hopefully)

oh yeah, having your truck there makes the meet just that much better.. showing off your pride and joy, getting "expert" advice.. etc.. if I didn't live so far away it'd be there every year.

I agree. I had a blast in such a short time. I would like to thank everybody for making me and my family feel so welcome. Also to all the members who planed everything Thank you. It was great. It was fun and cool to be part of such a great event. Sorry I arrived so late but had to work Friday. Left from Houston at 9:30pm Friday and arrived at Nats X at10:30am. I think it was 796 miles 13 hours and a half drive for me. Even with my wife and kids fighting for the PSP or tv's in truck in the drive over there was worth every minute of it. The trucks and people were great. Hey I was going to make it there one way or the other no matter what. And if I had to do it again I would. I will do it again next year too, But make sure I don't work Friday. Cause with 38 hours without sleep and a straight drive of 13 hours and a half there not good. That's the only reason I didn't stay later on Saturday, had to take shower and sleep. And Sorry I didn't Make it to the brunch Sunday morning. Hey only slept 5 1/2 and had to be back in Houston by 6:00pm Sunday. I just wish I had been there since Friday Morning. Hey I even got to run my Escalade at the track and sold my Ty.

Hey Victor, sorry I didn't get a chance to say hi to you. Glad you sold your truck though. Who bought it? How much did you sell it for? (if you don't mind my asking)

Yeah, I know. I talked to him about buying it about a month ago. He was only asking $2.5k for it though?

Re: Another fun Nats

I trailered it back to Houston,TX They didn't have any other transportation other than their Syclone. It is only a couple of miles diffrent from New mexico to Kansas city than New mexico to Houston. Actully less miles. He will make arangments later to pick it up.

Hey Dave,

That would of been Frank's "Auto Addictions" Low 11 sec truck which if i was there it would of been 2 low 11 sec trucks from NJ. Unfortunately i had other things planned and my tranny burnt the band again but it is all fixed now and working well.

Yea well hopefully when Frank gets his shit together i will get him out here on the street with me and we can go some ass kicking with a few Evo's and some Gn's.

Re: Another fun Nats

This was my first Nats and I had a great time.... :D
Thanks for making me feel welcome guys. I learned a lot looking at other's SyTy's - got some great ideas for mods.
Probably the highlight for me was just putting faces to the names I see on the forums. Jimmy gave me a full-on boost launch ride in the parking lot - big fun... Renz let me bring home a wastegate reclocking part to try - just handed it to me and said "give it a try".... seeing Jeff start up his TTV8 Ty was a bunch of fun... have that one on video.
....really a great bunch of guys (and gals).... can't wait till next year!!

Re: Another fun Nats

Once again the SyTy Nationals was a great time. I would like to thank planners of this event. Seeing the trucks is always great, but meeting the people behind the trucks is a treat. I am impressed with the number of people that show up without SyTy, but are eager to learn about them. Having a venue to view these trucks is priceless. This small but dedicated group is going in the right direction. I don't know the plans for 2008 yet, but I will circle my calender for this event first. We as owners have to spread the word about this show. I cannot imagine not having a show for the rarest GMC Trucks in the world every year. Support the effort and plan to attend next year.

I think we were all surprised when that can of tuna exploded; Vinny was pretty committed at that point. Seemed like half the parking lot cleared as everybody went to take showers and throw there clothes away. I actually hid behind Dave just perfect, not a drop on me. If I take a really deep breath I can still smell it! My official response to my Grand Prix attempt: I am only there to amuse you! lol
