Re: alot of smoke after radiator flush

did ya get some coolant on the exh. manifolds, or crossover pipe? that will cause it to smoke like a b@#ch till it burns off.....

Re: alot of smoke after radiator flush

how did you flush it? did you flush it while it was still hooked up to your engine?

Re: alot of smoke after radiator flush

smoke is coming out of the tailpipe, it was still hooked up. not really a complete flush...

Are your engine coolant temps higher than they were before the flush?

Re: alot of smoke after radiator flush

what do you mean pressurize? i hope thats not the case... but its possible, ive been noticing alot of smoke lately, like if i get on it at night i see ALOT of smoke in the headlights behind. if this is the case i'll be in the market for alot of stuff, but im still pissed

My guess is you got an air pocket in one of the heads during the process. End result could be a cracked head. That is worst case scenario though.

You should pull your plugs and see if one of them has coolant on it.

Flushing the system, in and of itself, shouldn't effect anything. It sounds like you had a pre existing condition from what you are saying. It could very well be a coincidence.

Check the plugs like everyone else is saying.

yea blowing a headgasket from a coolant flush is a bit far fetched.

pre-existing condition maybe

Stab it and steer it
Re: alot of smoke after radiator flush

I have to agree. Pre-existing. What was your oil and/or coolant use before?

It just seems to me, in my experience, that allot of people never actually check the radiator. Just the header tank. You can be out of water with a full header tank.

Re: alot of smoke after radiator flush

well, if you flushg the system just by hooking it up to your waterhose, and hope everything is good, you will blow the headgasket.
you can't apply 3bar onto your system.

I don't agree here. I have flushed many a cooling system with nothing more than a garden hose. I dare say hundreds. Pull the stat, run the motor with the radiator drain open along with the upper radiator hose off, put the garden hose in the fill of the radiator, and pump all the crap out. This is the way we did it at the garages I worked at during college as well and I was taught this method by several different master mechanics. I have never, personally, seen or heard of this causing any problem.

But, I am in no way a professional mechanic.

if you take the thermostat out, and the rad. drain is not cloughed up it will work, but if you apply 3 bar onto your system you will blow some shit
