Air filter on turbo

Ok did some searching can't find a post sooo...

Anyone running an air filter right on the turbo inlet? If so what brand and what where the measurements? I am trying to get on the Team green filter site and the K and N and both are not showing up. :squint:

APC cheap air filter available at any AdvancedAuto or Pepboys for $20

shown on a 72mm, so you'll have more clearance with a stock turbo

Perfect thank you. Do you have the measurements on that filter? I would like to run a Team Green filter.

bigger filter surface area is best. but if you need to fit something in, the APC filter will work.

i've since switched to a 4" cobra elbow and a 12" long K&N cone

i actually ran into a problem with a short filter like that "$20" one. not knocking it, but every vehicle IS different. it was holding me back. "choking" if you will.

so now i am not running a filter at all. what i have is a wire mesh style screen with one sheet of k&n cotton filter sandwiched in between. to each their own.

Just an FYI... filter right on the turbo = lots of heat in the intake air. That's the hottest area of the engine compartment.

Someone had a pic of a Sy running low ETs with that type of filter. Can't remember who it was though.

i believe the BadNewz Sy was running a HKS mushroom, but the turbo was positioned so that the air filter was exposed to the grille in the front.

thats nice. I wish I would have known this before I bought my K&N cone filter and placed it on the end of the cross tube. Dose it make it whistle more being right off the turbo like that?

its prone to suck more dirt this way as well aint it? i like the idea of cold air grabbing air that isnt exposed to all sorts of dust and debri, although i had looked into one of these because it would be nice to empty out that whole area under there.

I run mine with a Braille lightweight battery right underneath it. I got the filter from RPM.
