Never Satisfied
220/221 whatever it takes
Hello,
This is a great site and even though I don't currently own a Sy or a Ty, I would like to own one someday. I previously owned an 87 WE4 Buick. So I'm not completely oblivious to the GM turbo world. First a little background info on this build. I am installing the following parts on a Sy for a close friend:
RPM Stage 3 Turbo
3" Cobra Elbow
Open Element Air Filter
A/A Kit (includes fan spacer kit)
Multi Position Chip
3 Bar Map Sensor
Manual Boost Controller
Battery Relocation Kit (aluminum sealed box, 2/0 cable, starter selenoid)
RPM 3" Exhaust
255 ltr/hr fuel pump
Adj FPR
160 Deg Thermostat
First of all, I'm not sure how many of you have similar mods, but if you have any hints, tips or tricks to help ease the install, they would be greatly appreciated. So far, I have the stock exhaust, intercooler (& all associated parts), and turbo off the truck. I removed the passenger inner fender also. There is a type of sensor or something that is bolted to the stock turbo. Here is a picture:
Does this sensor read boost, or help control it? Will I need to keep it on the new turbo? The chip is a multi position chip burned by Nolan. My friend is hoping to run mid to low 12's. From your experience, is this possible? Thanks for reading my long-winded post and I'm sure I'll have more questions.
