Ok guys i am going to give my situation a shot here.
Similar to this post http://www.syty.net/forums//showthread.php?t=34135 , i am in a perdicament, which is: What Ty do i keep? What Ty do i sell? I currently have 3 Typhoons, one of which i am never getting rid of, the other 2 are in question. I was lucky enough to grab a low mileage black 92 typhoon on its way back from Japan a few years ago, it now has 60k on the motor and body, the truck is stiff, solid and is in overall A+ condition reguarding its look and feel, BUT, its engine is blown at this point of its life. The other is a wht grey 93 typhoon, i purchased this one for a very excellent price and since have spent a lot of time and effort bringing this truck back to life; which at this point it is about 80-90% complete. Now heres the thing, The black one i paid more for but is now broken meaning i probably wouldnt get as much back if it were to be sold (profit wise, id break even). Now the white typhoon since i bought it for such a low price i would pretty much guaruntee myself to just about double my money, but this truck has 130k on it with a rebuilt engine and overall is a C+ or a B. Both trucks to be perfect would need a paint job and only the black one needs an engine, WHAT DO I DOOO??!!?!?! Sell the black? Fix and sell the black?? Or sell the white? helpzors please!

Re: Advice needed

paid 8k for the black one with bad compression.
paid 4k for the wht one with blown motor (long story, wasnt blown)

The white has an rpm turbo upgrade a solid propshaft and otherwise is stock
The black is bone stock.

Mephisto

These trucks are cursed
Re: Advice needed

swap the turbo into the black one and sell the white one. you already have one that color, and the black has lower miles. plus with a black ty you'll be able to fit in with the rest of the so cal crew, since everyone elses syty is black... with the exception of scotts sy.

Re: Advice needed

i want to keep em original from the blocks VN+, so i was thinking about swapping but then i realized id sorta deface thier values in the process if i do so. I am leaning towards selling the white and fixing the black, with the low miles and the driveability the black, it would be a better truck to own. Dont get me wrong the white typhoon is excellent but it needs: 4 shocks (same as the black), a new steering box (its loose), rear speaker panels, and honestly not much more. I, being a syty owner for the past 10 years have become very picky, the white ty is very nice but knowing what most of us know, it does need work. Since i purchased it i have replaced:
Turbo with an rpm upgrade
New fan shroud
New chip (back to stock)
New cruise control unit
New vaccumn hoses
New overflow tank (stock)
New IC pump (Jabsco)
Re Ran the IC lines
Basic tune-up stuff (plugs wires cap rotor etc.)
Many Datamaster runs (0 knock, ask Mike Lee and Neil 666sothis666)
Repaired the electrical problems (nightmare)
Replaced the top ends gasket set
Lots of cleaning
More cleaning (interior)
Painted the body cladding (grey and repaired broekn pieces)
and lots more..

Re: Advice needed

White tys story:
Well a board member from the local area had contacted me a few times asking if i would be able to sell a few parts to the SoCal guys since he did not have enough time to make the meets. This gentlemen gave me a 2800 stall converter worth about 500 dollars and was asking for 280 in return, of course i took and sold it for him. ( that gives you an idea of the person i bought my ty from) A few months go past and i hadent heard much from this person, i began to think he fell off the planet. Then one day i get a phone call, its Joe, the Tys owner, he begins by telling me this: He was owner #2, he had the truck for a few years in the garage NOT running due to a blown motor; the motor and tranny were rebuilt at 80 and 90k miles, it now has 130. The truck has been good, but for about 16 months hasnt moved and he says he is thinking about selling it since he cant rebuilt it again, he offers for me to buy it from him knowing I would be able to make it nice again (he was correct).
At this time I make a trip to visit Joe and take a look at the truck. He opens the garage and starts it up, yeah it sounds a little "clanky" but to me doesnt sound "blown" (I have 1st hand knowledge of that sound) and he begins to tell me how upset he is and how the ty deserves better; i totally AGREE. I took it for a test drive around the block, under load theres no noise, when you let off the gas it begins to clank..IM SOLD :) I arrive back to Joes and thats when i knew I would buy this truck, i hand him 4k and that was it.
Turns out the trucks motor is fine and the only real problem was that the flywheel bolts were loose and once tightened they no longer "clanked" (problem 1 fixed). After further inspection i realize that the turbos orange inlet hose has no wire looming and is just a rubber flimsy hose which is getting sucked into the turbo (damaging the blades, hence the replaced turbo) also one of the trucks major problems addressed by joe "the turbo seems to be clogged he says". After that i took the truck to Mike Lee at www.raceprovenmotors.com we run it on the datamaster and it ran perfect, Mike was shocked with the price i paid and the condition of the truck. We decide to replace the top end gaskets due to the fact that it had been sitting for so long and it wasnt that hard of a job to do at RPM with Mike. Also we were interested in checking out the trucks internals to get an idea of what i had. Turns out it does have nice forged pistons and isnt a bad build at all (stock rebuild, forged psitons etc.) I have driven it for the past year and have had 0 problems, ive repaced many things over this time and have made this truck one I dont want to get rid of, but i have to sell something in order to get something else (looking for a low mileage Sy or an Evo) as a daily driver. Thats basically the scoop on the Wht/Gry i have, along with mechanical i have painted the cladding and done a few things here and there that are small but are steps closer to its completion/perfection.
