ABS Removal Experience

My ABS light is on, and Im almost set in removing the ABS unit entirely, due to the lessening ability of the stock abs unit to be effective, and the sheer underhood realestate. Minimizing brake system complexity has its positives.

Few questions for those who have done it, and or have driven a truck w/o an abs unit.

Does the lack of the abs unit seem to effect braking at all? (with exception of its intended function) Softer pedal? harder? harder to stop? better stopping?

Does the ABS unit's trouble codes indicate trouble with non brake specific parts?

Please keep this reletively on topic, I dont care for opinions on if its legal or all that, seems the subject always gets into that.

I getting ready to do this myself. I have one request for anyone that has done this. Can you post a picture that is of the bottom of the unit and lable which lines went where? It may be more obvious when I do it but the pics don't really show it well. What are you using to cut the line? Will a regular tubing cutter for plumbing(for copper pipes)work or is the stell too hard? Thanks.

actually I drove his truck a couple of weeks ago, it didnt brake too well (or drive, or start for that matter), I know theres a couple things that need service, and its not really easy to compare how a ty stops to a sy.

thats why Im looking here.
