A question for the SYTY gods about the intercooler!

My question to you is is it possible to run the intercooler off the coolant system. My guess work shows that you could take the small return hose that is next to the intake orange hose and run that through an auxillary and the stock rad. then into the cac and have the cac return go to the spot next to the orange intake hose. Whatcha think? Please don't flame I am just trying to figure stuff out just an Idea from a semi-newbie. There may be a pressure problem i don't know about or some other stupid shit that only a real mechanic would know.

it seems to me that the engine coolant would be much hotter than a good performing IC's fluid, possibly even raising MATs.

Hi Marc,

Out of curiosity I checked the DataMaster run for my Ty where I ran 13.2 last May. Coolant temp started at 149*F and got up to 158*F by the end of the run with a 160*F T-stat. MAT temps started at 84*F and rose to 144*F. So aside from some logistical problems of running it through the engine cooling system, the Laws of Thermodynamics don't seem to be in your favor either. HTH.
