a/c fan not blowing.

i was driving my syclone on the way home from buying it this morning and the a/c blower cut out for a breif second. then 5 minutes after it stoped blowing completely but you could tell the compressor was still sending cold air. its weird sometimes if i dont turn it on for a while then flip it on it will come on then cut off after 30 seconds or so. what would be the most likely cause or best things to check first. i dont think a fuse would cause this?

Pop the hood and locate the purple wire that is connected to the blower fan, next to the passenger side fender.

Make sure its completely plugged into the fan motor. Its a common thing to accidently unplug it by pulling on wires or hoses, or it works itself loose over time and starts cutting in and out due to not having a good connection.

You can also throw an amp meter on it with the key in the "on" position to make sure its getting power as well.

Check the black ground wire as well. I forgot to connect it once, and I couldnt figure out for the life of me why our brand new blower motor wasnt working...then I saw the ground was disconnected :banghead: All else fails, it might be the blower motor itself.:2cents:

I had the screw back out that was grounding the wire to the firewall... caused mine to stop working also. Put a better screw in, tightened it up and it was good as new.

Re: a/c fan not blowing.

A similar thing happended to me with my Typhoon. Assuming the A/C is the same in a Sy as it is in a Ty, and according to my mechanic, there is some sort of a vent/valve in the A/C system that freezes up on long drives when the system is working very hard. Which made sense to me in that after I turned off the engine, the AC started working again an hour later.
It may be that the compressor is going bad. Do you smell an oder, especially while waiting at a light, of oil?

This is hearsay so take it for what its worth. Hope this helps.

I had a similar problem with the blower motor cutting out on me. So after the dealer charged me for a new motor, they installed a new relay and, on my fourth trip back they finally took a minute to accurately diagnose the real problem and it was just dirty contacts on the dash selector. FN stealerships.
