Hey everyone, left caliper sliders started hanging while i was on the long trek known as the power tour and now i need to redo my front brakes which still have the 89' rotors still :eek: (not even warped lol)

well i dont have much cash to spend right now so im not going to do any vette or any aftermarket brake upgrade but instead of getting new rotors, pads, and cleaning and greasing the sliders or worse case senerio new calipers if i see i need them, i was thinking of doing that 98 blazer upgrade,


searched all over and i couldnt seem to find a yes or no answer if a 4wd spindle on our trucks will accept the 98 brakes or if we have to get the 98 spindle also. If a spindle is needed also i may just redo the stock brakes for now since i gotta go to a show next weekend.

i know the 2wd spindle is different for the 2 different styles of caliper, so i believe the 4wd will be different too.

well these syty's have 4wd ones of course so i was hopeing someone has compaired and could tell me for sure, or know of any modifications that can be done to the stock ones so i dont have to hunt a junkyard for a 98+ one.

Been there, done that, you need to use the 98 and newer spindles
Too bad you're not closer, I have a complete setup I'd sell, but the shipping will kill you.
How was the PT this year, I went last year and since they were traveling basicly the same part of the country, I decided to wait until next year

Power tour wasnt bad, i went all but the last 2 stops or so, weather was pretty good, got kinda hot. Rained like an SOB the morning i left to go back home from bowling green and i started to hydroplain at 80 which was scary but other than that, everything was good. That and at the time i was running 2 psi fuel pressure and didnt know it which made me starve my truck during some burnouts in front of a crown and made me look retarded. Saw the usual sweet cars and trucks. Very dissapointed in the evening scene at every town tho, usually it gets kinda wild on the main drags of the towns and a bunch of burnouts and whatnot go on but there was NONE of that this year. So other than talking to other car people wasnt much excitement.

Sorry I thought my location showed, I'm in northeast PA
I've gone on the PT off and on since 99, it gets worst every year. Last year the only place that really put on a good time was Summerset, KY, I'm not sure I spelled it right, but the guys there ran the whole place, the HRPT guys should have learned a thing or two from them, on how to run a show, since the didn't have enough parking for the spectators, they ran buses in an out of the location for the people. You could leave your car at the show and take the bus out, to one of the remote locations, get so grub and take it back. I think it was the only location, that had fairly priced food

well i found a 4wd with everything i need for 100 bucks so if everything is good like the bearings and all, i think ill go through with it.

So just to make sure, the 4wd to 4wd everything will swap over just the same as for the 2wd guys? Such as the axles etc?

The only thing extra I ran in to is the brake hoses were the next size largwer and I just used an adapter fitting to convert them over

ahhh thanks for that insight! You happen to remember the sizes off top of your head so i can just ask for it at a parts store to save a little trouble?

IIRC it was 1/4" inverted flare male to 3/16" inverted flare female
