Ok guys. I know i dont have a sy/ty but i love the 4.3 turbo setup. Im making the decision to go turbo on my ext cab truck. Hopefully i can turn this into a build thread soon. My goal is about 450whp and 5**wtq. I want to use the sy/ty manifolds and crossover. Any input from you guys would be great!

Yea its 2wd. Its got a lsd rear end out of a 01 blazer with disc brakes. Right now itll spin all of first gear with a 235 75 15 tire. When i do go turbo ill be going to vette wheels and a better tire. I also would like to find myself a rear end out of a zr2 truck or blazer since it has the 8.5 ring gear, a little more stout than the 7.5 thats in it now. Ill .ost likely do a rebuild on the motor just for piece of mind on the rings and bearings. Its got 60k on the motor now. Of course upgrades in the trans as well. At least vette servo, HD springs etc. Sorry for the ramble. Just throwing out thoughts. I havent searched much on here but what kind of cam grinds work best for everyone? Obviously a custom grind is in order. The factory vortec cam is horrible for boost.

I do know the zr2 rear ends are wider. I've got a set of Corvette zr1 wheels to go on when I do it. That's way if I have to run any kind of spacer it won't be as much of one. If any. I'm in central Florida. Right between Tampa and Orlando. The 3.73 gear won't bother me too much. 3.42 would be a bit better as that's what I have now and from reading and researching the taller gear helps out a lot. This won't be my first boosted build but its my first turbo build. Or hopefully soon it will be.

Good luck with the build. I hear a turbo on a newer 4.3 can be fun. It's no SyTy, but still fun.

What year of block are you dealing with? If it's '96 or newer you might look into what you plan on for the bottom end. I think your numbers are doable, but longevity may be an issue.
What about fueling and tuning? What's your plan on that? Marine, 2114, extra injectors?
Albeit the stock cam isn't everyone's first choice to be used with a turbo, it isn't exactly horrible either. Hopefully you can get a decent regrind from Comp or Crane.

The block is a 99. I was thinking of studding the mains and heads with some decent head gaskets. If money permits i want to cryo the crank. Fuel, im thinking of the marine intake and maybe 60lb injectors, if need be meth is an option. I was toying with the idea of copying the z06 cam numbers to comps 270 grind, so something like a .500 lift and maybe 114 lsa?? As for a converter something a little looser than stock but nothing crazy as this thing will see alot of street duty. Tuning will be hptuners most likely, i would like to do it myself as i helped a friend tune a 550whp supra on a AEM EMS system not long ago.
From what ive been reading speed density is the way to go for the bigger setups. So i might end up going that route if im the one tuning. Alot of this is just a huge thought process at the moment and will slowly take shape thanks to our wonderful economy.
Also the heads im sure will have to be machined for bigger springs and possibly valves as well. Ive read alot on here and on another forum and have found only a very small amount of clear answers with it all. Ok sorry for the rant haha
