93 typhoon number?

Re: 93 typhoon number?

that i believe way back when was called "vin etching" by dealerships. they would tell customers "for $1500.00 we can vin etch all you windows to prevent theft and you'll also get a discount on your insurance" , and not so smart buyers would say "oh ok go ahead". then they call in a company and have it done in less than thirty minutes for under $130.00.

I'd say it was more like $15. Glass etching stuff isn't expensive and neither are stencils.

Nice score, Brasco!

Coupla number options...

If you think the block is still original, you can look behind the driver's side head, on the block.
There's a machined surface with part of the VIN stamped in.

That doesn't preclude the motor being replaced, though.

If there's any part of a label still on the ECM, and there's a number on the ECM, it may be possible to track that number on a '93.

Finally, you might see if there's a grease pencil number on the firewall behind the motor. This *may* assist in tracing which one it was.

What does a carfax come up with? I would think the DMV would have tracing on what the old VIN was, if the plate wasn't removed.

Just throwin' some ideas out there... get as much info off the truck as you can, and post it up.
