93 Typhoon major issue

To start off, no codes have been kicked. Its started awhile ago, acked like the truck was miss firing under acceleration. Changed plugs, wires, cap and rotor. smoothed idle a little bit problem was still there. it was fine crusin at 55mph, but when i would get on the gas just enough to start pullin boost it would run rough. like major miss fire, shakes and rattles the truck. Also would get a gas smell in the cab. Just today tho, it pretty much stutters and shakes at 30+ mph. My thought is maybe a injector going bad or fuel pump. but im not a mechanic. Need help please!! Truck is stock, does have aftermarket exhaust, K&N, and i believe a hypertech chip with sucks. It wont let me do over 100mph at WOT. Could it be the chip??

Have you checked your timing? The bolt holding the distributor down could of come loose.

It is hard to say without just looking around. I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a bad battery cable. Corrosion had worked its way to the alternator. On humid days the truck would really act up. I’d noticed my gauges would twitch for no reason when the engine started acting up.

It doesn’t cost anything to check your positive (and Negative) battery cables for corrosion.

Just maybe the cause.

Good luck.
