Re: '93 Typhoon Hialeah, FL

I sent you a text a little bit ago (sorry it's so late/early). Please put me first in line to come see the truck. I am VERY interested. My name is Kevin (954) 649-3855, thanks.

Edit: I just realized that you post all the For Sale trucks you find...so I am assuming you're not the owner. With that said, does anyone have info on this truck? I searched around the forum a little and didn't see it anywhere else. Thanks!

OMG, probably the funniest thing I have read all week!

Re: '93 Typhoon Hialeah, FL

Went to look at the truck today. Body is definitely rough - rust on the tailgate + radiator support, some surface rust under the car and on various parts, and terrible paint. Seemed to run fine though. Suspension probably needs to be replaced, and the brakes seemed weak.

The "biggest" problem was that he said the intercooler pump was bad. The hose that runs from the front driver's side of the car (out of the intercooler) around the engine and up to the passenger's side near the firewall was disconnected. He said he drives it around a little with it like that, but the car mostly sits and has been sitting (not registered for 4 months).

Any thoughts on this^ specifically, or the car in general?

It would explain the price..if the rust is in the obvious places, you can count on it being in the hidden spots worse. It's worth about what he is asking, maybe a tad less.

X2. For what he's asking, for about a grand more you can find one that's gonna be in better shape with less "ah ha's!".

Can you explain a little bit about where the "hidden spots" are? I crawled under the truck and spent a solid 5-10 mins. with a flashlight looking up^ at everything...but then again, I have 0 experience with these.

Thanks for the info, I did not know that. I have been a long-time lurker of this forum but most of the trucks I have seen always seemed to be ~$7.5k and up, even in somewhat rusty condition like this one.

With the visible rust on this truck expect the fuel lines and brake lines to need replacement soon. The frame to body mounts are also a risk to rust failure.

Re: '93 Typhoon Hialeah, FL

On mine I have thus far replaced the following due to rust:
All brake lines
One section of fuel line; the section downstream of the filter will be needed eventually.
AC Condenser
Fuel tank
Belt Tensioner

My doors and tailgate could both be replaced due to rust.

Another problem prone area is the sheet metal above the rear window.

That Texas one Smkur50 linked should not have any of these issues.

This truck is awesome!!
Re: '93 Typhoon Hialeah, FL

I would consider to buy that truck for like 2000.00 just due to the fact the body work that truck will need.It has a lot of rust spots. If you can get the truck for nothing then buy it.If not walk away look for something better.Miles are low on truck but body of truck in bad condition. :2cents:

Unless I needed parts, I don't think I'd consider this one at half this price. I hate rust that much!

Re: '93 Typhoon Hialeah, FL

I too had a bad experience with rust on a car (an '87 GN). It was a nightmare, and rust was the reason I sold it. With that said, to my knowledge, the rust on my GN was FARRR worse than this Typhoon - the floorboards were rusted through with clear, visible holes; EVERY piece of metal under the car had at least surface rust on it; etc.

The one thing that stands out to me is 55,000 miles. Does that not outweigh body/cosmetic issues this truck may have? The way I look at it - rust and bodywork can always (usually) be repaired; while mileage can never be taken back. That philosophy could be complete sh** though, I don't know ???

And while this is up, are there any members in the area that would be willing to look at the truck with/for me?

Miles are low but look at how much it will cost for the body work. You are looking at a new paint job on truck and then any repairs to the rust spots. If you got the money to do this typhoon up right then do it.This is a project truck for sure.If you are looking for a project then buy it if not buy another typhoon.5500 is to much for that truck needs alot of work:2cents:

Re: '93 Typhoon Hialeah, FL

Danny and I will be going over this truck on Friday with the new owner. Apparently has some drivability issues. Will post report and find out what it went for. Buyer is a long time, multi first gen S10 owner with some skills. I knew this truck 2 or 3 owners ago. Got burned by the owner at that time on parts and labor.
