Re: 93 Ty 1505

I think you should leave the gta wheels I like the look and wouldn't mind having a set for my ty. l think it'd look good with the front lowered a little though but looks good either way.

I have decided to keep the gta wheels but I am waiting for gmc emblems from my local decal shop. I would love to lower the front and rear 2 inches. I feel these truck look great lowered. I'm not a fan of slammed though

Re: 93 Ty 1505

Its time to start a winter project on Ty 1505. Some of you know 1505 is rusty, very rusty. I am done dealing with leaving a pile of doritos where ever I work on it. My drivers door doesn't line up or close very well. The side windows leak and there are rust holes around the back glass that allow water in. I know 3 of my body mounts are gone and I am afraid to look at anymore of them lol.

So on 11/12/14 I picked up a very clean low mileage shell and frame. My plan is to build a truck the way I want it with reliable mods but on a low budget. I am going to try to stay under $3500 for the build hoping to use as much of 1505 as possible. I will post some pics soon when I start working on it.

We have half off at pick n pull this week. So today I got the brakes out of a 01 Camaro along with the rear backing plate/ bracket. I also snagged a rear swaybar with links and hardware out of a newer blazer.
calipers $8.99 each
brake brackets $8.99 each
swaybar $13.99

FWIW, I'm not a fan of the GTA wheels but it's clearly up to you :D Great work giving her some TLC!

Did you get the body from Jeff by any chance?

Re: 93 Ty 1505

The body was there while I visited him. I put 2 and 2 together ... Thank goodness I got 4!

You'll be very pleased. The body is very "clean". By that I mean it might need a wash :D

Re: 93 Ty 1505

He did strip it farther down than I was expecting I had the idea that I was getting a body with no cladding but when I got there fenders, doors, tailgate, core support was removed. I did get an ok deal but I was hoping to drop my drivetrain in and put all my interior into it and be done in 2 months no paint needed. I almost walked away when I seen the doors missing but I had driven there from florida I couldn't waste the $450 needed to make the trip. Now I have to search for and paint all these parts. but I guess it pushed me to build a very nice truck instead of just putting it back together and driving it. I am doing a full restoration now and I will be much happier with my finished product

Finished cleaning and painting. I can't wait to get these on. I'm not sure if I want to go to the local part store for stock rotors and pads or get the slotted and drilled rotors off eBay for a lot less money. If they warp I have to deal with trying to return them. It's so much easier to take them back to the parts store.

Re: 93 Ty 1505

I have most of it figured out I just need money. This is going to take a long. I just don't have a lot of money to spend on it at one time.

Re: 93 Ty 1505

Removed all the cladding today. All the pieces came apart with a lot of work. Thanks again Randy. I have a couple cracks to fix but no broken off tabs.
