9/11" will be no more...

In case if you haven't read on the list. Here is the essence of Brian Hartman's email:

"Yes it's true. In two weeks, the 9/11 will be no more....and unavailable
thereafter.
BUT! Fortunately there is a better TC that has been in development for
about 3 years that will replace it. :) I thought the title would catch
high performance enthusiast's eye. The new TC is absolutely awesome
though the price will be between $795-$895."
....
"So with that said, if you want the current design 9/11 TC for $595.00
you have 2 weeks until they aren't available. I have a line forming for
the new Billet 9/11 High Performance TC's which will be in heavy
demand. So get in line now if you need one. "

Well. I'm really sad to hear that. I strongly belive, that I (and a lot of you too) need no better TC than the current 9/11". So this is nothing more just pushing the price for me. I really appreciate Brian's work and what he has done for the community, but that sounds really bad. BTW the price for the old one was $495 a few months ago. Now it's up with 20% in the remaining two weeks...
:(

I thought that there is no other option but the 9/11" for my Sy. Now I've to look around. Any suggestion?

Peace,

Peace,

Double the price is kind of extreme for a replacement line in my oppinion... especially if there is no other lower priced option available... It would have been nice to have more notice than two weeks, more like 6 months... I'm not sure that there really is any other viable alternative available.. However if you are interested in the current 9/11 you might try contacting Brian and ask if he would consider honoring the old price of $495 especially since you live in Europe... The shipping alone on a TC would add $100-200..

We have used the 12" TCI super street fighter converter with some success. CHeaper then the 9/11", but wont stall high enough for T series turbos. Worked fine in my truck way back when. I went 12.40, Todd A went 12.1, and a few others ran good. Probably not as durable and taylor made as the 9/11", but like I said... it worked.

I have been waiting for (4) of the last few 9/11"s for over a month now. I guess the manufactor has been lagging.

I have no idea. The chips can only lock & unlock the converter under certain criteria. If you want to test if the chip cal hurts/helps, disconnect the wire to lockup the TC and do it manually. The idea is to get the computer to unlock/lock the TC at the correct parameters... dunno If I'll have a chance to play with one of the new ones ever.. so I can't say. I do know that I had some nasty shudder with my old 9-11, but I can't blame the converter as this was with a FAST system and was controlling the converter manually, which isn't the best way.

Well that really sucks as I was going to order a 9/11 within the next few weeks. Falco - can you tell us more about this $800 TC? I'm ordering a PTE52 turbo kit by the end of this month and I'll need a good 2900 stall converter to match it.

Jeremy,

I'm quite sure it will performe better, but you should ask Brian H. about it.

Ken,

Which converter do you use? Lock-up? Stall speed? May I ask how much was it?

Peace,

Thanks. Just took a look to their website. They have a 12" and a 9" converters for us. The HP 9" could be nice, but it's $800. If I gonna spend that kind of money I'd rather buy the TCS one which was designed for us. Anyway, thanks for the info, I bookmarked the site.

I might buy their manual. http://www.levelten.com/store/gm/gm_techmanuals.htm

I use a 10" pro torque converter with a 2800 stall with lockup. This company is very well known in the u.s. and they fully stand behind their work. The converter was $425.
