88 s15 with syclone heart

I am going to try again a little more prepared this time. I still has some unanswered questions though. I have a 88 s15 that had a 2.5 with t5 5 speed in it. The parts I currently have are: Pretty much a whole syclone heart:
motor (120k)
manifolds and crossover
turbo (26k with under 15 thousandths up and down and no in and out shaft play
2 harnesses
2 ecm's
stock gauge cluster
and all the misc stuff needed(intake, fuel rails, injectors, ect)

On the turbo I will use stock return lines if i keep the stock pan. Where is the stock feed line on the block? Can I block off the stock water lines? Instead of the air to water I am running a FMIC with same side inlet/outlet. On the ecm's is there any memcal better than another? One is a Delco AYBM 4053 and the ecm is a silver tint. The other memcal I am unsure of (haven't looked) but the ecm is a goldish tint?

For fueling I am running rubber lines firewall back for now and hardlines under the hood. I will have a 15 gallon fuel cell (with 90 ohm sending unit?) External aeromotive a1000 fuel pump with matching a1000 adjustable fpr.

Transmission will be built 700r4. Yes it will be 2wd. I will have a built 7.5 for now with 3.08 gears and limited slip differential. This will be until I can upgrade to a built ford 8.8.

As far as the accesories I will be running no a/c or power steering pump... that leaves the crank pulley, water pump, and alternator. What will I do for a belt for this setup?

Can I run a 2wd 4.3 oil pan instead of the syclone? I assume I will need 2wd motor mounts? I don't think I left anything out but as more questions come I will ask. Just like to get some answers and opinions on the setup. Thanks for any and all help.

You're 15??? I would run p.s. and 3.08s seem pretty low.... Good luck with it!

Yes I am 15. P.S.? And I'd like some other opinions on the 3.08s, most people seem to think that taller gears do really good on street vehicles that are turbo charged. I also think it will help with launches as I will be 2wd.

I agree, run power steering. ... I think you'll be trading off a lot of performance using 3.08's , the S10 t-5 has a much lower first and second than the 700R4 does.

As for the swap... yes you can use a 2wd pan, you can use 2wd or 4wd mounts on the motor but the frame pads need to be swapped to the 4.3 style.

The stock oil feed line is the port directly above the oil filter on the driver's side of the block, it's blocked off normally with a plug (bolt on my GT). You cannot run the turbo as it is without water cooling... easy to do though, just run coolant from the heater outlet on the manifold and then all 4.3's have a coolant return port on the block near the oil pan.

1. Why use a ford 8.8? You can get a Moser 12 bolt made for less than $2000.00. Stay with the 3.42 gears.

2. Way back in 1991, I did a 4.3 engine swap on a 1982 S-10 long bed. This truck have no A/C or PS and it wasn't that bad to turn with manual steering as it only weigh 2820lb. If your truck is a shortbed it would be about 200lb lighter. The pulley setup was from a 1988 G-body van that was a Verizon phone van. Back than the phone company order the 4.3 with no acc but the ALT. If you need more information PM me with your needs.

3.You can run the 2wd oil pan as long as you put a turbo oil return on it.

Re: 88 s15 with syclone heart

Just a quick question, are keeping the 82-90 front end style with that too? I think it would be cool if someone did that front end stlye with syclone cladding, dunno how much work that would be to mod the stone sheild filler plate to match the syty front cover? Just a though, I'm done jacking now.

I doubt I'll run any cladding as its expensive. I may run syclone seats and column along with my gauge cluster but not sure yet. Other problems I have come open are what distributor should I get? I looked at NGK UR5's on RPM and they seem to be right for stock? Will a stock 4.3 water pump work with the syclone motor? Also what should I do for fans? e-fans? or stock fan? (blades don't have to be sy/ty specific just clutch?)

Since this seems like a budget build up. I would run stock distributor (the next worth while mod is LS1 coils), Ur5, Stock water pump , and a stock fan/clutch. IMO The only things that you gain with electric fans is the ability to cool the truck while its off and it creates a bunch of room.

You also seem to gain a neverending worry about if the thing is going to run  something is going wrong with mine, I have to troubleshoot it one of these days

Re: 88 s15 with syclone heart

Well, I have come to the the fuel setup part of the build and have a few questions. I'm running all braided stainless lines along with the fuel cell, a1000 pump, and a1000 fpr. My questions are:

1. What is the stock fpr pressure?
2. With the new setup will the fpr psi have to be adjusted to a different psi than stock?
3. Where is the best location for fpr?
4. What is the size of the inlet on the fuel rail?

Misc. questions
1. What is the Ur5 that dgoodhue is talking about?
2. I am running a fmic, will this cause any problems with anything from getting rid of the a2w stock intercooler setup?
3. What sensors, if any will I have to reinstall/relocate (knock, o2, ect)
4. What adapter is used between the tb (oval) and ic tubing (round)? I have seen it with other fmic installs but I seem to have lost it.
5. Where would be the best location for the BOV?
6. My stock waste gate I received with the stock turbo is set at 10psi (from previous owner). How do I adjust it back to stock pressure (14.7 psi?)?

Thanks again for any and all help.

Re: 88 s15 with syclone heart

Stock fuel pressure is around 35 psi. You have to adjust it to your needs, of course.
Best location for a regulator is right near the rail (if not on it where the stocker was)
Fuel rail inlet is a 3/8" flare nut if I am not mistaken

Ur5's are spark plugs that seem to work extremely well in these motors. I personally run Autolite race plugs, but it's a person to person thing

No problems chaning to FMIC. Most popular location for a blowoff is on the hard pipe right before the TB

Sensors, what stuff is on it already?

The IC tubing uses a 4" to pipe size adapter. Mine is a 4" to 3" adapter

Its a stock syclone setup minus the fmic. Whats sensors are stock?

Re: 88 s15 with syclone heart

All of them

let's see, off the top of my head:
IAT
TPS
IAC
MAP
single knock sensor on the back of the block (driver's side)
coolant temp sensor (2 wire) for ECM, (1 wire) for gauge
Oil pressure sender

Here are the diagrams,

They will help a ton
