That it does. I wouldn't mind having it either, but I already have a '84 S-10 longbed that needs work. I don't really need another one...but it would me a Cameo at least.

The looks. I found one in a bone yard once, took me forever to sell the cladding. I thought they would've been a sought after, but not so much.

Re: 88 Cameo

Does it have a 2.8 V-6? Those are pathetic if it does.

:dunno: I don't know why people keep saying this. Sure, it lacks the power of the 4.3, but for grocery getting and hauling light loads, 2.8 does just fine. It seems bulletproof and gets decent gas mileage. :2cents:

Supply and demand. There might be 10 ppl in the whole world that want this pile. IMO it might be worth $12-15 hundred if it's not crusty.

I coulda bought a nice local no rust 100k mile Sy for $6100 a couple years ago but I passed since the propshaft broke when I launched it.

Re: 88 Cameo

I have seen many $1200.00 S10's that ran fine though and didn't need a new motor.

x2. It took several months of searching, but that's what I paid for my 1-owner, bone stock truck with 101k miles on it. It has already paid for itself on the truck rental $$ i've saved moving furniture and other stuff.

That is not far from where I am.

I bought an 88 2.5 5 speed S15 for $500 90k miles ago.

Had 90k now 180k runs like a sewing machine.

They are just rare. I tried to find out more, but rare is all I got. Supposedly less Cameo's made than Sy's, but more than SGT's.

It is a decent enough motor. If my rear main seal weren't leaking, I wouldn't be worried about doing a motor swap. Still debating on whether to do a 4.3, or a SBC.

That is pretty much what I was thinking. For upwards of $10K, I would get a Syclone. Actually, I may get a '02 Z06 that needs some tlc for less than $9K!

I got mine for $1,100. It runs and drives fine. Just the rear main leaks, the sunroof leaks, there is a leak at the bottom of the windshield, and it's kind of beat up. I paid too much, but I didn't know about all the leaks when I got it. I bought it to drive back and forth to work. It got better gas mileage than my '95 Tahoe, but I sold it. It doesn't get enough better mileage to warrant driving it over my '04 S-10 crew cab though.

I wish that I had a manual...I miss not having one. I also wish that I had paid half of what I did for mine.

LOL today I was rolling up to a stoplight in the fast lane, when some stupid ****** in a POS Subaru wagon went from the slow lane into the fast lane right in front of me.Of course I pulled into the slow lane and way all like WTF man?

Anyways when the light turned green I was shocked to hear my tired old 2.5 squeel that one tire for aboot 5 feet as I redlined every gear up to the speedlimit.

HAHA...the one wheel peel!

I drove that ****er home one night in an ice storm dodging all the 4x4's scattered in and off the road. When I finally made it to the top of that 600 ft long 35 degree incline,I was down to 1st gear and was doing maybe 10 mph.

Made it home.

Re: 88 Cameo

cameos didnt come out til 89. there were cameos with full ground effects like syclone, and cameo el with only front/rear bumpers, like sgt. 89 #s for full cameo real low like 31 or 39. every year was slightly different.

There were all show no go, but I like them, some look almost as good as these trucks we adore
