I think he is including the car also... decent 86-87 GNs are still bringing $10k or more, really nice ones $15k+.

$3K and uglier than shit is not a bad deal for a high 14 low 15 sec car I dont think. Probably more reliable than a SYTY too. Oh wait, what am I thinking, its a Dodge. :rotf:

Less then $1000 gets the gn or t-type into the 12's.

I know you are including the cost of the car in your estimate I guess but GN's and t-types are worth more on the market unless you buy a beat up one and tune the engine etc. then the claim could be the same for GN and T-types.

I had already stated earlier that he might have included the price of the car but after my statement above he said that it was not re-sale value but best bang for the buck.
So I have yet to figure out that 3K = mid 14's and 1K = mid 12's IF we go by best bang for the buck and not comparing the price of the car.

I can get a beat up t-type for 4K then tune up the motor and tranny, spend an additional 1K and get it in the 12's. Eh whatever...

Bottom line I am all for investing as little as possible to achieve the quickest car and most reliable car/truck. There are many ingeniuos people on these boards that can do just that.

if were not talking about price of the vehicle, why not buy the new C6 Z06 and spend $1K on that, 11s would be an understatement.

my personal opinion is you have to figure the price of the vehicle into the equation

You could easily get a turbo dodge in the 12's for considerably less than $5,000, inlcuding the car. As far as $ spend on mods, without counting the engine rebuilt (basically stock) I have less than $400 in to it.

So you got < $400 and you have achieved low 14's.

Here we got:

87 GN 120,000 mile untouched engine with a stock turbo, stock intercooler, stock injectors, and unported heads. A properly maintained engine other then the high mileage it will run 14.0 -14.2 on a warm 80 degree day.

Modification Cost
-------------------------------------------------
K&N Filter $45
AFPR (stock modified) $35
93 Oct. Race Chip $50
Walbro 340 Fuel Pump (with hot wire kit) $139
Spark Plugs at .035 $0
TPS adjustment > 4.5 volts $0
3" Down pipe (steel) $90
Hooker Cat Back Exahust (mild steel) $250
Straight Pipe (steel) (replaces cat) $20
100 lb. Valve Springs $50
Modified Upper Plenum $0

* TOTAL $679

* these prices are listed as new items. I am sure you can get them used and lower the price.

The runs where constant at 12.0 - 11.90 on a 80 degree day.

The GN weighs in at 3600 lb. the GLH is at what 2800 - 2500 lb?

Closer to 2200 lbs, that is the key advantage. Don't get me wrong, I love the GN, TT, TTA's. That will probably be my next project car, just that the price of TD's are so damn cheap because they made so many of them and nobody wants them

Not too many GLH's around but many of the others like the dodge turbo minivan. This guy has it running mid 11's. Tuning goes much further then just throwing bolts-on on some project.

I've only seen one other GLH-T other than people I know, and that was in a dirt parking lot in the middle of nowhere. Turbo mini's are friggin sweet though, a lot more common too

I miss my GLH -T, but I think I miss the Spirit R/T more. SOme guy came all the way up from Delaware to buy it! Too bad those Lotus heads were a mess....

A GN aint squat in the rain or snow -don't care how much mods are in it. We own what we own for personal reasons...
