I did a search but could not find what i am looking for. My question is what is the diffrence in a ty 700 and a s10? I know the valve body is diffrent but what else. I am looking to rebuild my trannie but i want to cut down my down time. So can i get a 4x4 s10 trannie rebuild that and switch over my valve body and other parts when i get my trannie out . Or is there hard part diffreces ?Or can i just build a s10 trannie up to syty specs?

valve body (about 10 differances within the VB)
seperator plate
rear plantary
torque converter

just to mention a few differances of the s-10 to the syty tranny.
and the syty tranny is very marginal even for a stock truck.

what is different about the pump rotor? and what are the differences in the VB?

every spring in the vb is different so is the upshift sleeve.
the pump rotor is hardened.

th400 or 4l80e!!!!! The only thing I like about the 700 is how horribly it puts down the power causing the shift in to 2nd to feel like a launch in a top fueler. Damn I hate 700r4's. Someone needs to do an upright swap from a 700 to a 400 on a dyno and then they can let people know what's really up with the worst 4 speed auto to come out from GM. All a 700 is good for is losing power and spending pointless cash. I may know what direction to point someone in if they had the cash to spend. 700's guaranteed to last with 500hp. 5 speed autos with pretty much no HP limit. Any GM tranny made to take SERIOUS power. Same guy that did John Lingenfelter's trannies. Very good quality. A person could propably find him on the net somewhere. Very pricey but very very worth it. Good luck.

I would like to go with a 400 but i drive my ty alot and at 70 to 80 mph so i would like 4 gear. the 4l80e i herd it was $$$$$$$$$$ i think it might be out of my price range so what to do :roll:
