406 sbc with heads-big cam-headers-11.5 to 1-intake-750-ect. 411 gears and a lot of suspension work.

This car kept getting faster everytime I talked to him so I finally got him to meet me at the track on a test and tune night for a side by side pass. A couple of weeks of bs/ing and some money on it weds 10-19 finally comes. I tried to get a best two out of three, but he insisted on 1 pass heads up.

50% outside, I have 8 gallons of 110 and boost set at 17 in 1 and 2 and 20 in third. (Having creep at shifts, it may be because the gate is plumbed back into the exhaust?)

He's on Defender X14whatevers and I figure I'll leave him hard and get chased down at the big end. He does a massive John Force while I get both lights on and get the brakes set. As he's staging I start to build boost to 7 and as the lights come down it pushed through the brakes for a friggin red light.

He cut a 5.05 to my -1.8 and the whole pass I can hear him but can't see him on the mirror or in my peripheral vision.

Pull around to the shack and the slip is.

Me rt- 1.88 Him 5.05
60 1.86 1.88
et 13.12 13.16
mph 101.68 101.29

A couple of things. New PB for me! and how the hell did he get a 1.88 on 235/60 defenders?

So the long and short is I'm faster, but redlighted and out some $.

I waited 1/2 an hour and ran a 1.80 13.02 @ 101.67. So close to 12's. Waited another hour and the rack went away (it was 40 buy then) and came out spinning to a 2.03 13.26 @ 101.27.

He made another pass with a 5.09 light and a 13.2. I didn't look for a delay box but this guy is a long time drag racer so I wouldn't be suprised.

I F'ed up but my truck get a lot of respect from the local sbc type guys and I had a few guys in the stands come over and rell me how awesome it is to watch it launch and how cool it is to see a TY in person at the track. Most are amazed that it is (what I consider) stock with some good fuel and a little more boost.

Nice runs man. Always cool to hear about those close ones. Slaughters are no fun to watch. Way to show em how the little grocery getter SUV runs.

Danm nice times! I bet with a bit more boost @ the launch and a nice tree time you should hit the 12's. Thats awesome for a near-stock truck IMO....Hopefully mine will run that good soon.

BTW what elevation is that track at?

Re: 70 Nova. I won, but lost.

It was fun talking trash about how a stock SUV is quicker than his "race car" that can only run 110 oct and gets 6 mpg. He took it on the Power Tour last year, I wish I could have got next to him on the e-way, 110 mph is it with the gearing he has. I reminded him of the 19.5 mpg I got with the A/C on!

I'd guess the track is 700'-1000'. I have 17" ROH's with TOYO Proxeys on it and it seemed to stick better with the stock wheels and cheap Kuhmo 712's. I am having a hard time getting better than a 1.8 60' where two years ago 1.7's were pretty easy. In the spring I'll switch over and shoot for a 12.
