Heck im thinking of dumping the complete shifter and just mounting a 3 buttons on the dash park reverse and drive

Also found this.....Interesting.

The 6L80/6L90 is one of the strongest non intustrial tranny GM has made in a long long time rated at 430+ lb tq with max gear box torque of 664lb-ft. It is not like any other transmission they have done as it is completly bandless. All power drive transfer is via disc's known as "clutch to clutch" technology.The aftermarket has had a handle on beefing this end of the trannys up for sometime. As for fitment, I measured one with my trusty tape and it comes out to the same length as the 4L60 so its probably the best option to package in the C5.

Yeah id love to put this and the twist machine paddle shifter in my GT, and maybe the Ty someday also. Would be sweet.

I figure give it a few years and the big escalades and suburbans will start sporting this tranny and getting rolled and there will be parts a plenty at the wrecking yards.

as of right now the 80 e is only planned for the caddy supercharged vehicles the escalead and burbans get 60e

I got to talk to a fellow that knew about the casting process last year for the 6L60 and 6L70. He said the 6L80E was designed to be a direct drop in replacement for vehicles sporting the 4L80E as GM didn't want to change the frames and everything for it to fit(mo money for tooling) so if a 4L80E will fit in a syty and the assembly is the same length as a 4L60, the hardware is not the issue. It's strictly the software and driving the integral TCU....This unit running AWD would be a good looking piece of hardware.

The pro touring guys love their shifter (shrifter is what its called actually).

If anyone is able to get this tranny to handle some serious power (800+ hp/ 1000+ lb/ft tq) please let me know. I've been thinking about this thing for my Chevelle
