I did a little math and since I usually spend about $40 per gallon of mobil 1 it would save $13 per gallon....roughly. But damn, I don't know if I would use that before I was too old to turn wrenches.

Anyone somewhat local have more than one SyTy? Or... Lots of stuff comes with Mobil 1 as factory fill. Although, probably not much call for 10w30 anymore.

wholesale price on that drum is about 7-800 depending on area of country, higher volume dealers closer to 500

Not to mention the cool factor of having the empty drum. But sure would take a while to turn it into a trash can.

thats only 12 oil changes, roughly. :dunno: or 36,000 miles on a normal car with regular maintenance. doesnt seem like much. i did more oil changes in the 5000 miles i had the trans am running. 7qt pan helped too, as did the oil change once a month during the summer.

btw, not sure where i'm going with this post.

Interesting. The STS-V takes 9 quarts every 10k, the TBSS gets 6 every 5k...

Nope, it still isn't worth it.
