50# chip results

We took my friend Bill's Ty to the track tonight, the first time since it ran a 14.5 @95 bone stock.

On 18psi boost we ran a 12.70 @108.0 with a 1.85 60ft. This is on 107 octane gas and T3 timing.

We're having boost issues right now, once we get that resolved it should put out some (even more) impressive times. The motor itself is 100% factory stock.

Mods:

Cold air intake
Air - Air intercooler
50# Ultimate w/ 50# injectors
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Headers
Downpipe
3 inch Exhaust w/ 3 inch cat
TE60 Turbo
9/11 converter w/ lockup switch

Its kind of hard just to say it was the chip. Maybe the

Cold air intake
Air - Air intercooler
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Headers
Downpipe
3 inch Exhaust w/ 3 inch cat
TE60 Turbo
9/11 converter w/ lockup switch

had something to do with it.

The only way to test the chip is to make everything equal but the chip?

Nice work. I seem to recall seeing pics of a table with a bunch of parts. Must have found there way onto the truck.
That was an ATR turbo/wastegate/downpipe right?

dr.jeckle, I'm glad people post their results with this chip, so we can all see how the hard work that went into it is paying off. What is the point of your post?
Why didn't you mention tires? Probably couldn't have done anything without those.

Combination & tuning makes the truck go fast, chip is just part of the combination. The chip is really the only question mark in the combo, as it is being tested by people like Wes & Bill, with only a few people hitting the tracks with it so far. That's why he posted the results with that as the topic, not saying you can run 12.7 with 50s. The ET is good, but not impressive for the parts by any stretch. I'm sure Wes is aware of that, and it also has some tuning left in it...

I don't know how you are going to compare it to another chip, cuz there isn't anything else out there for the 50s. The chip & the injectors basically just allow you to make the most of your airflow modifications.

Keep in mind this was only second run the truck has ever made. With a better 60ft the 12.7 could've been aprox. 12.55 or so. Add another 5-6psi of boost, and it is quite possible that the truck will hit 11s.

I didn't say it was just the chip. But I think it plays an awfully big part in the equation. Jordan has hit 11's with a similar combo. How many stock chipped Typhoons run 11s?

With the MPH you guys ran it could have been a 12.1-12.2, I've ran several 12.20's @ 108, and then add your 5-6 psi of boost and then you got yourself a timeslip. Get drag radials and caltracs and you'll be done with the traction stuff.

Yeah it's an ATR setup.

Wow! What happend at the first shift? Anyway it's quite impressive. With race gas and working IC it could be much better. There are some serious knock at the end of the run.

Peace,

The first shift? It just doesn't drop down very much in RPM, that's because of the high stall converter.

Actually we had 107 octane in there. It seems like it starts knocking right above 4800, perhaps that's why the stock rev limiter is 4800? We might try shifting to 4th to see if the knock goes away.

Ok, that make sense. I've just not seen any shift like this before. Looking around the IC should help too. Anyway, good run.
